Took seconds to undo a stubborn 6" thing
I used this to remove a 6" diameter lens cell from the front of a telescope. It took about 5 seconds. I struggled for 30 minutes the day before, trying to arm wrestle it off. There was enough strap left to easily do 10" diameter, perhaps a little more. It could go as small as a jam jar. I wasn't sure about the rubber strap versions - the threads on my lens cell felt seized so I wanted a strap which wouldn't stretch. This worked perfectly. Really simple to use - just thread the strap underneath the pin, then back through over the top. The indents on the jaw will grip this loose end as you lever it. Anticlockwise to undo. I could never have removed my lens without this - top marks!

Limited use
It works reasonably well but the strap has nowhere near the same level of grip as a rubber strap of similar designs. This is a fundamental problem and so I cannot rate it very highly which is a shame because the problem with rubber straps is that the rubber stretches before it offers enough force to move, in my instance, a tight oil filter. A better design might be woven fabric encased by rubber to offer best of both and that may be well available on the market. It's a shame as the cast metal handle is more premium. All things said though, I did get it to perform it's function eventually, hence 3 stars, not 1!

Not the Best Overall Design But Solid.
Good for HGV filters as they're unpredictably sized and there's a decent amount of space but I can't imagine it'll be of much use on smaller vehicles... I even had some space problems on a Volvo FM12. Typically of filter straps, once it soaks up some diesel or oil, it'll be more prone to slipping. Annoyingly this particular design is more likely to mash up a filter than straps designed for a ratchet as you're using the filter itself for leverage. I did have this happen and had to use a (co-workers) filter socket however the filter was absurdly tight. The positives are: it has a lot of leverage; it's affordable; it'll fit nearly any filter out there. The negatives are: it can mash tight filters; it's prone to slipping; it needs a large amount of space to use effectively (by the time the strap bites on, I've run out of room).
