W.I.T.C.H. - Vol 1 [DVD]

First day I got this through the post, I had watched it with my lil sister and she was very much ecstatic about it. I could not get her away from the television for one minute haha, she was pinned to it. The dvd we did have was scratched like nobody's business and so I thought to replace it with this one, I thank you soooo much for this.

I think W.I.T.C.H vol 1 was quite good. At first Will felt a bit left out and then she, Irma, Taranee, Conelia and Hay-lin found out that they were the Guardians of the Veil in "It Begins", Will is the leader and can make their powers stronger when combined she also has the Heart of Kandraka, Irma controls water, Taranee controls fire, Cornelia controls the earth and Hay-lin controls air. With these powers, will they be able to close the portals to the evil kingdom Meridian or will evil come through the portals and destroy earth? You don't find out in this DVD but i asume you will in the last series. Anyway this DVD is well worth watching if you like magic and myths.

Bought for my son as he enjoys the movie. DVD came fast and well packaged, no issues with the disc and plays well.

I felt utterly compelled to write a review of this series as it is so well done. As a 20 year old male, one would think i'm utterly strange liking a modern day childs cartoon about magical guardian girls. However, from growing up with the likes of Thundercats and He-man i can honestly say this can compete. Disney has taken the time to create stunning animation, witty scripts and an evolving story which shows steady progression throughout the episodes. The story is about five young girls who discover they are "Guardians of the Viel" and each have an elemental power in which to close portals and fight back evil from an alternate dimension. (As we all do from time to time). However unlike most live or cartoon programmes W.I.T.C.H really does make use of the action. Often having them "Morph" into guardians, then using all their elemental powers, often combining them to really beat back the bad guys. This is done to some up beat track and you really get a sense of power and don't feel cheated out by the lack of ambition with the use of powers. Sadly the first episode isn't it's best, and the real potential for the show can be seen in the 3rd episode "the key". But this should be enough for you to go and buy volumes 2 and 3. To conclude, a stunning series with depth, wit and morals.
