My previous martial arts training is no longer useful to me as I am now 86 years old and need to use a wheelchair whenever I go outside of my home. So, I looked for some alternative means for self protection. Having completed my research, I now use 4 lines of self defense that I have found practical and have attained to with an adequate level of proficiency. The four weapons of my choice are (1) Pom Pepper spray; (2) a Cane Masters tactical walking cane; (3) a security alarm with a blinding strobe light and (4) the Atomic Bear Stealth Pro tactical pen.The primary weapon that I depend upon is my tactical walking cane - it is a game changer even in the weaker hands of a trained senior citizen in a wheelchair. However, one should not put all of one's eggs in one basket. It is always best to carry more than one means of self protection.The Atomic Bear Stealth Pen Pro combines a useful and practical writing pen with the best features of a dynamic weapon needed for self defense. It is easy to use and the serrated tip can do a lot of damage to ward off an attacker. A scrape across the forehead with this tip is extremely painful and will cause the blood to flow down into his eyes making it difficult for him to see. Even a senior citizen can effectively use this tool if ones knows the weak pressure points of pain such as the eyes, ears, throat and groin.Overall, I am well pleased with the Atomic Bear Stealth Pen Pro and consider it to be the best tactical pen on the market.

These are great pens! The extra money is worth it especially when compared with the common $10 tactical pen. You instantly can tell this is a quality product. Buy once, cry once. You can buy 4 or 5 cheap tactical pens trying to find the right one, only to be disappointed each time, or buy an Atomic Bear Stealth Pen Pro and save yourself the headache.

I've had several different tactical pens, but the main things I like about this one:1. It's not too bulky. This will fit in or on a pocket just fine.2. It's not too heavy, it's polymer so that definitely cuts down on some of the weight.3. I love the "bolt-action" feature mainly because it's much more functional than removing a cap, twisting (where it can twist in your pocket and get ink everywhere), etc. Also it sounds/looks cool.4. It has a heavy duty clip for your pocket and not one that breaks easy. I tend to be rough on things but this holds up very well.5. It actually writes pretty well, and the refills are standard and easy to find.6. It has everything you would want in a tactical pen.My one con is the rubber piece that covers the glass breaker can fall off and you can lose it - leaving a pointy end that can dig into you depending on where you keep this pin. It won't just fall off, but if you bump it on something or if it catches then it can fall off. Still though, not enough to cost it a star. I would highly recommend this to any other EDC guys like myself who value functionality.

-UPDATED REVIEW-I originally gave this pen a 3 star review, for several glaring issues as outlined before. I decided to replace it only to find that nearly every issue has been fixed (replacement glass-breaker cover excepted). The beveled tips are now wider, making them slightly less pointier at the benefit of being much studier. Additionally, I was going to write that the paint faded in on the tip of the pen in my original review, but this issue has now been fixed. This pen has been my pocket pen for about six months now and it has aged much better than the first one that I bought.-ORIGINAL REVIEW-Dropped this pen once on its tip, all three bevels bent inwards, temporarily preventing it from writing. I was able to fix it for writing purposes, but the tip is still messed up. I have determined based off of this experience alone that this pen is a bit much for a $50 pen considering.Also, I temporarily lost the rear-end of the pen (the rubber part that covers the glass breaker) for awhile. Found it in the pant-leg of my motorcycle pants, but it left me with a realization; This pen suffers greatly without it, since the glass-breaker catches on clothes very easily.Despite these draw backs, I think that it is a great pen. It writes fairly well, and fills a niche that few other pens do. The beveled tip is very sharp and somehow does not catch clothes easily. If they would sell replacement tips (or make tips that could survive impact) and replacement (or retained) rubber ends for the glass breaker, I would consider this for a 4 or 5 star review.
