Yes it is expensive. Actually about 4-times more expensive than the cheaper battery make I see often. But it is a nice clone of the battery that came with my camera originally. That is to say it lasts just as long, a common complaint about its competitor, and works flawlessly. It comes down to a choice. Do you spend the same money on 4 cheaper batteries and have to change battery more often, or do you spend out on this and stay charged up for longer? If you do video work, I strongly suggest buying this for longer recording times. I personally would say the same if you do a lot of travel or street photography. Less things to carry, and will miss less shots with prolonged shooting time. If you do long exposures, especially outdoors where temperatures can also affect battery charge, then also buy this. If you're in a studio or just doing the occasional shooting from time to time, you'll probably be fine with more of the cheaper options.

Only wanted genuine canon battery as safer, perfect and good value price, handy backup battery for my dslr when out and about.

Works a treat. To be honest, I need to upgrade to the external body extension as it would be a lot more convenient and changing the little battery packs is really inconvenient when out or taking the motor racing photos that I like. Nothing but a real pain when it comes to a wet or dusty location.

I bought this when I originally bought my Canon EOS 1100d with kit. I didn't realise my camera (+ kit) would include a canon battery, so when everything arrived I considered returning the battery and getting a refund (as it isn't the cheapest battery). But I decided to keep this battery as a spare. From my experience so far, Canon batteries hold their charge and last ages. So I'm really pleased with canon batteries...But not actually sure I'm going to need a spare!... Would certainly recommend it on the basis of performance so far.

very disappointing the lifespan on the battery

I believe that OEM products should be bought where possible to maintain the product that has been invested in. For me there was no alternative, I was not going to risk putting a cheaper battery in an expensive piece of kit ie DSLR camera. Works well.

Battery wouldn't take a charge so useless
