A hit! Incredible voice changes, too!
We got the Tall Tales CD for a birthday gift and the kids listen to it over and over, so I came to amazon to find other CDs for upcoming road trips. I listened to it first by myself, on a particularly long trip and enjoyed it immensely. I couldn't wait until summer to let the kids listen, so I played it in the car while driving around town. It's a hit! It made rush hour traffic almost bearable. We'd stop at a light and I'd look back and see their faces rapt with attention...priceless.I enjoy hearing different accents and Mr. Weiss does several on this one.Given the suspense and drama involved in murders, I wouldn't play it for preschoolers. But it seems to be a good fit for older kids and the young-at-heart. This is something that adults and kids can enjoy together, no headphones needed. :)Oh, for those using a CD player: each story gets its own "number". So you can skip to story 3 by skipping to number stop 3. The drawback is that if you left off mid-story, there's no easy way to get back to the middle. For us, we just shut off the car and the CD player holds our place until next time (unless I change CDs for when they're not in the car with me--oops, lost our place, but they didn't mind listening to the whole story again). So while I like that each story gets its own number, I sometimes wish I could rewind just a little to remind us where we left off.Overall, very pleased and back to order another. (The library ones for borrowing are always out!)

Horribly Disappointed!!!
These are not full length stories, but 5 min short stores that do not last long enough for a ride to the local grocery store. Feel cheated and frustrated the running time and story length was not in the description. Had the description been thorough and honest, I would not have purchased them.

Not for little ones
Great for jr High and High School students during road trips, especially if they get car sick when reading. A little complex and "adultish" for small children.

Excellent introduction to Holmes
We love Jim Weiss and have almost all his audio books for kids. We love this one in particular because I have had a hard time finding a good abridged version of the stories for my children, age 5 and 8 at the time. They love these stories and would listen to them again and again. We ended up borrowing Sherlock Holmes movies from the library. The BBC series with Jeremy Brett was their favourite.

Kids love this!
My girls (6-10 yrs) this and listen to it every night. I though it would be scary for them, but they don't think so at all. Once of Jim's best in terms of voice acting.

Love it...
We recommend anything by Jim Weiss. He is a great storyteller. Combine his storytelling abilities with the genius of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and you have an instant success.

Our grandchildren ages 10-13 always listen to a CD at bedtime and this one has become a favorite of the boys.
