The Prince & the Pauper by Twain
I had read this years ago, but in modern English. The old English was more difficult (tho' it was spelt in the modern way) to read and slowed me down, but it is such an exciting tale, full of historical detail, and I loved it. Now I must find the DVD!

Captivating
It is an excellent book for children and teens in any other language except the...English language for non-native English speakers, the dialect used makes the book impossible to be red many times, captivation and charm being lost, otherwise the dialect used might be the captivating and charming element used by the author to attract children and teens native English speakers.

A good version for Kindle
Sometimes illustrated Kindle versions don't translate to the format well, but this edition is very good in every way. Clear and easy to read, and enjoyable to look at (even in black and white). From the point of view of the story, I found it a drier read than, say, Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Characters were more caricatures than well-drawn, but Twain still managed to point out the dichotomy of rich and poor in a way that makes me glad I live in the modern era.I've been reading Tale of Two Cities at the same time, and am afraid that Twain can't hold a candle to Dickens in terms of characters and social commentary (at least, not in Prince and the Pauper), but that doesn't mean I would leave him off my list of authors who (whom?) should be read.

A Brilliant novel but TINY PRINT WILL DAMAGE YOUR EYESIGHT!...
A brilliant 19th Century Classic novel! However, if you DON'T want TO GO BLIND FROM THIS HORRIFICALLY TINY PRINT, DON'T BUY THIS COLLINS VERSION! We were very disappointed and had to purchase a novel with regular sized print.

Totally absorbing
I vaguely remember reading and enjoying this when I was about 12. As a result I thought I would revisit the story. As i began I was worried that my enjoyment would be spoiled by the fact that the theme (of changing places with someone) has been used in many modern films. However there are so many twists and turns in this story that I was kept really engaged and of course you get so much more detail here than any film can show.
