This item seems to work well. In Phoenix, our air quality plummeted caused by the fires in California last Summer and we both got sick. This meter was purchased to help improve air quality in the home. It showed a 1 or 0 most of the time. We moved out of Phoenix to a better air quality place and didn't really get to benefit from the meter other than to know the air in our home was not causing our breathing problems.

It has functioned well. There needs to be more instructions on what to do with elevated readings.

Nice unit but poor quality control and terrible instructions.
Well, this is actually a fairly nice unit, however is hampered by poor quality control and inattentive customer service. Additionally the instruction booklet is computer translated from Chinese and is not quite worthless but quite confusing. To further make using the unit more difficult, the buttons on the front of the unit have several different functions, depending which menu you are looking at, and the buttons are not consistent in how they act with the menus. In some menus you use the up and down arrows to scroll through the menu items, and other menus you use the set button to do the same thing. Really poor firmware development. The unit I bought read 9.999 for the TVOC and recalibration would only work correctly as long as I didn't turn the unit off. I contacted customer service, I explained the problems clearly and simply in my email, they responded promptly with worthless information, they clearly didn't even read the email I sent them.I'm sending the unit back, I'm not going to order another one until I am convinced that they have a better instruction manual and a bunch of 4 and 5 Star reviews.Oh that reminds me, there were six reviews when I purchased the unit, several of those are not from verified users and several of the five star reviews are from people who have published no reviews at all except for a review of this unit, both of those are red flags for phony reviews. Here's a hint for those that have the unit and want to calibrate it and cannot figure out the instruction manual. Turn the unit on, put it outside for 5 or 10 minutes, press set, arrow down to Sensor Calibration, press the power button 2 times, press set, wait for 2 or 3 minutes until the calibration bar finishes, then Escape.

Needs a hibernate mode
Doesn't seem to have a hibernate mode where its screen is off yet it'd checking the air. So when I have someone filling my apartment with cigarette smoke I have to boot it up and wait for a long time to get the readings.

Waste of $99. Inaccurate device made by generic manufacturer.
Poor quality device that is not very accurate. Took readings of PM2.5 on freeway, in Los Angeles, in Santa Barbara, in the home, and outdoors and they were all the same even though pollution levels in these areas are not the same. Temperature and VOC levels were also off. Finally, this air quality monitor has the Geardon brand on it but it is also sold under other brands, leading me to think that its Chinese manufacturer is OEM and then sells it to different companies that brand it as their own. The manual is in better English than many other Chinese products but it's still confusing and does not give clear instructions on how to operate the unit out of the box. Therefore, this a waste of your $99.
