Who doesn't love Castles?
My daughter, aged 3 1/2, has several of the "See Inside" series of books, and Castles was our latest addition. It is as good as the others we have, with lots of flaps to lift, interesting facts to uncover and lovely illustrations. There is humour too, so it keeps a younger child engaged for ages. The card pages are good quality, and the flaps are sturdy enough for little fingers to lift (if supervised or if child is careful). This is one book for children that adults will enjoy reading just as much. Recommended to everyone.

My 4 year old absolutely loves castles, so this book was a perfect Christmas gift, lovely pictures, simple & clear descriptive writing, keeps my child interested with the lifting flaps throughout the book, would definitely recommend

Another Flap book to add to our growing Flapbook-library
We have around 15 of these Usborne Flap books now, and we've kept buying them as our kids aged 5 and 7 really enjoy them. The books are very educational, sometimes funny and do trigger the kid's curiosity. So several of them have been read over and over again. This one about castles is great for little knights that want to know more about the period. Really a lovely book. The only 2 small drawbacks are i.) the flaps can some folded or torn with frequent use by children's fingers, so this make the books less suitable for schools or nurseries. ii.) these hard cover books are quite bulky so our collection not takes up a large part of the book shelf.

Exceeded my expectations.
I ordered this for my 4 year old boy, and we are delighted with it. It was bigger and smarter than I had imagined, with secret 'advent calendar' style flaps that your child can look for, hidden in the pictures. Behind the flaps, will be scenes hidden within rooms, towers, dungeons, or behind tapestries etc, which adds to the fun.The book traces through the development of castles, providing the educational side, but in a fun and humourous way, that will survive lots of repeat readings, I expect. If your child has already visited some castles or expressed an interest, this is the perfect book to accompany and enhance their learning and enjoyment. If your child hasn't visited a real castle yet, I am sure this will be the perfect introduction, helping to make their first trip even more exciting and fun.

fantastic bookj
My three and a half year old son is castle mad and he loves looking at this book. He is very keen on anything with flaps at the moment and he especially enjoys the pages on jousting and the castle attack. The book is very sturdy and should survive until he is old enough to read and discover all the little snippets of information for himself - great value to get a book that will provide pleasure for a number of years.

Education can be fun
First of all, I want to clarify something. My four-year-old son has four books from this series, including 'See Inside Castles'. However, the other three books were published under a 'Flip Flap ... ' title (e.g. 'Flip Flap Cars'). I think the publishers have recently changed the name of the series, but the contents are unchanged. And what excellent contents they are. All four titles my son has are wonderful. The 'See Inside ...' books are1. educational2. fun3. well-written and4. beautifully illustrated'See Inside Castles' takes the reader on a journey from the very first castles to later, more sophisticated versions to a modern day ruin. The book is full of vivid, informative pictures, and the fun part comes from the young reader looking behind the flaps on every page, behind which are even more details and surprises. For any child who's curious about how something works or how something developed, I can't recommend the 'See Inside ... ' books strongly enough.
