We tried that but it didn't work or to be honest it wasn't reliable.   We then placed the mat in the bed and it has never failed to alert us that my elderly mother had risen from the bed.   Also we live in an old stone built house and we we did wonder if the alarm would get thro the thick walls - again no problem.   It has brought us peace of mind and we would highly recommend.   The alarm, even at a the low pitch, is very loud so no chance of sleeping thro it.

I changed the battery's today and now i have no volume on the device

Hello, the volume slide button is inside the battery compartment which you move to increase or decrease the volume. Is it possible that while you were putting your batteries into the alarm, that you hit the decrease? If not please contact us as we will need to replace your alarm if the volume has failed.  Thank you

Why does the alarm go off, when you get into bed

Hello Eileen, The system should not alarm when someone places their weight on the pad.  It should only alarm when the weight is removed from the pad.  It may beep once as the patient gets into bed, but that should be all.   If it is alarming when you get into bed, a) check the pad is placed across the bed in the area of the patient's shoulder blades or the bottom area, b) make sure the patient's full weight is on the pad when laying in bed.  c) if the alarm does sound as you put your weight on the pad, press the reset button on the alarm, this should silence the alarm. But check to make sure when you remove your weight again, the alarm sounds.  If you have tried all these, then perhaps your system isn't working correctly. Contact our customer service dept to get a replacement.  Please let us know if you have other questions.

Will the sennsor mat work when used with an electric blanket underneath

Thank you for the interest in our product, Unfortunantly the pad is not designed to be used with an electric blanket. You can however use our motion sensor and pager which will be a great alternative. If you search in Amazon 'Motion Sensor and Pager, so you know when they are getting out of bed' this will alert you when the person is exiting the bed.
