Love it, but would like some minor improvements and some Gen1 stuff brought back
Fantastic lighter holder…. HOWEVER… for the love of all things holy Thyrm why would you make the first gen able to stand upright and then REMOVE that ability from the gen2? I also really hate how you can’t use the newer model butane inserts from zippo because the chimneys are slightly too tall… SO FIX EM! Release a 2.1 version that fixes both the taller chimneys and the upright standing ability. Both super easy fixes. Other than, this case blew me away by how much longer the traditional zippo inserts with wick and cotton last in this thing. I mean literally by an extra week, by an extra 100 lights, by an extra amount that was so noticeable, I actually ordered a Gen1 and second Gen2 armor cases. The Gen1 is nice because it stands upright on its own, which WOULD be useful for butane so the butane can settle properly vertically… however it too will not fit the newer butane inserts. However, I do also like the built in clip that allows you to clip it to stuff. A 2.1 version, could bring that clip back but extend the length so it’s fully molle compatible or 1.5” belt compatible. The fact that when you strike to ignite your thumb hits the little door latch is INSANELY annoying so you never do get a full strike, but it can be worked around. Just seems like a small oversight that could easily be fixed with V2.1. Do I think it’s worth it? For edc, yes. It just makes your lighter last longer bar none, and it makes your your lighter much more tough. Wind resistance is just as good as any other zippo, and the functionality at least in gen1 was higher than gen2. Sure there is a lanyard loop, but honestly who is using this with a lanyard? I would recommend on a 2.1 version or a gen 3 version that they add a lanyard loop sure, but again bro g back the full size belt clip from Gen1 and make it molle/1.5” compatible, but ALSO, the biggest thing, would be allow the newest design to still be rugged and tough, but fit inside the zippo molle pouches. The zippo brand molle pouches and the 550 paracord pouch would be an EXCELLENT pairing that Thyrm could do so that like me, you can then edc the tough armor cases in those respective pouches as right now they’re just too big to fit. Keep the overbuilt design, but slim it down a bit to make it more edc friendly. Maybe a Gen3 is needed?

Excellent air tight protection
Indestructible! This case lasted me as long as I could hold it. Fits perfectly on any zipper structure. Is air tight, protects and prolongs fuel usage. Highly recommend.

Very Nice Waterproof Shell
This is a nice shell for zippo type inserts. It's very tough and can handle getting wet very well. My only problem with it is the price. A fare price for it would be in the $25 range.

What works and what doesnt
Pyro Vault 2 works with my choice of a Zippo 1 burner insert. Pyro Vaul 2 comes with some sort of fabric tinder strip evidently meant to be carried under the butane insert. Left it place however it seems more intended for use with a traditional fluid insert. The butane insert fits inside the Pyro Vault 2 and the cover easily closes and flips open via the spring-loaded hinge. The Butate insert has a cam that looks designed to interact with the traditional Zippo metal cover. It does not work with the Pyro Vault 2 and when folded upwards is unneeded and doesn't interfere with the Pyro opne/close action. Unsure at this point if it's airtight but doesn't need to be for my purposes. Just wanted a durable US made case for the Zippo butane insert.appears well-made. Hopefully this will be an heirloom quality unit.

Misunderstanding
Misleading thought it was a lighter not just a case! It gave me a wick but no lighter?

Flimsy garbage, do not buy…
This thing cost $34 and it legitimately feels like something you’d get out of a claw machine at the arcade. The plastic feels cheap, it’s thin. The lighter insert it uses from Zippo that I bought also doesn’t work and you cannot return it. You’re forced to deal with Zippo directly who fruitlessly try and have you debug a clearly broken insert. Do yourself a favor and buy something else, anything else. If you’re buying this as a prepper or outdoorsy type person this whole combo is a joke. If you use the lighter fluid I can assure you it will dry out and quickly. There’s no gasket whatsoever just a fragile rib to form a semi-tortuous path. These folks should stick to their cell vaults, overpriced but at least feel like more value for money. This one feels like a naked cash grab…

Double your fuel life
I got this for one reason. I was hoping I could extend my Zippo fuel use. The standard Zippo body is classic but the fuel just evaporates so quickly. This has a seal around the lid. Foam or rubber I can't tell. It worked! The fit is designed for the Zippo guts. Very easy to use! I can't speak for longevity of the plastic housing BUT it did extend my fuel life by double!

Helps with a pet peeve
A pet peeve of butane Zippo inserts is that the gas escapes so soon. This holder minimizes that nicely without adding too much bulk. Since one purpose is lighting campfires, the bright orange is helpful to find it in my bag or on the ground.
