The Interior Design Reference & Specification Book: Everything Interior Designers Need to Know Every Day Paperback – July 1, 2013

This interior design book, along with their architecture book, gave me SO MANY ideas, concepts, pitfalls, things to think about, that I couldn't put it down. I thought I knew a lot behind the engineering for designing my next house, this book showed me how wrong I was. This is not written like a story book, nor is it just a technical-numbers reference... it gives a brief (technical) overview of each concept before presenting the numbers behind each reference. If you're used to reading stories or are looking for decorating ideas, look elsewhere. But, if you've also got an engineer's brain, you will love how this reads. I especially liked the section on the engineering behind colors and light, with how it relates to design. I read this cover-to-cover, and will probably do it again more than once during my home design process.

Consise.Ever thought to yourself, "I wish there was a book out there that told me every-thing I need to know about interior design in a clear format and preferably in simple diagrams"?This is it!It's so incredibly precise and detailed. The author covers the broad aesthetic concepts as well as the the detailed/dimensioned aspects in one fell swoop. From How to meet/bill clients, or building massing strategies, all the way to various weaves/construction of carpet or laminates.I can't adequately verbalize how emphatically impressed I am by this extraordinary compilation.I will buy everything these authors compile.So well crafted.

A lot of information in this compact book. The strengh is definetley the solid basic knowledge. The Book provides information from a Project Time schedule over CAD Drawing standards to basic materials knowledge. Its made for the US market though. All measurements are in Inch/Feet.

This book has everything I've ever really needed to look up. It covers a lot of different topics, gives you specifications that you see all the time, and so much more. As an interior design student, I highly suggest it for other students and professionals as well. I've purchased a lot of interior design books over the last few years and this one has probably been the most useful.

Did not answer design question and was confusing to read

the content of this book is amazing, but the fact that it's in paperback size just elevates it to the next level. highly recommend.

For when you absolutely, positively need to have the right answer for your interior design client.....even if the home has no internet (it's empty....i'ts under construction....you're out in the open fields in Egypt!) Perfect size for purses!

This is an excellent book for those who want to have an eye for order, balance and union of a room.I am a fashion merchandising student but want to try my hand at interior design on the side.
