Planning Your Dissertation (Pocket Study Skills) Paperback – 26 July 2013

I ordered this book for my son who is currently doing a dissertation at university because of the simple way it is structured. This small book also shows examples of dissertations already completed by students from differing schools e.g. Medicine, science and business to name but a few.

This book is perfect for anyone starting their dissertation, the pocket size book is great for throwing in a bag and carrying with you all the time. The information is clearly set out and simple to understand. I am currently using it to support my 2nd year small-scale investigation, which is a step towards dissertation writing and have found lots of parts useful for this too! The book provides a step by step guide throughout the dissertation process and I think I will find this incredibly useful in the future! :)

I have only read to page 26 and I feel it has motivated me to get started on my dissertation. Williams provides a step-by-step guide to help the reader along their dissertation journey and this instantly provides comfort. To add to this the guide offers the opportunity to complete questions and workshops to allow for deep thinking. This in itself relaxed me. Another bonus feature of Williams’s book is its size- it is small enough to put into your handbag. I would say, from this short read, that this book is going to be one of my lifelines throughout my dissertation journey.

I love the way this little book, and yes it is 'pocket sized', lays everything out in its simplest form. It talks you through different aspects of your dissertation.Although I have not started the writing of my dissertation yet this book has helped me with my planning process, talking through database searchers to finding suitable articles.Due to the size of this book it is easy to carry round and refer back to.I would recommend this book to anyone starting a dissertation.

I have bought this because I liked Getting critical in the same series so much. I am due to star my dissertation in January so I have not started using this book yet.

Amazing book! This book goes through everything in so much detail. I’ve used it to help me write both my undergraduate & postgraduate dissertation. So helpful- especially if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Love these books as they are full of relevant information and so easy to understand. Gives step by step guidance for a range of disciplines. Would be good to add social work in the structure of dissertations depending of profession. I'd recommend the whole series!
