Impressed so far, only minor gripes
I bought one of these recently when they were at £99. I wanted an low power LED security light to replace a halogen one that had failed. The reason I tried this was because I wanted a single unit to detect and light two opposite ends of 180 degrees, i.e. when a car drives into our gate, or at the other end of our drive, when we are walking/driving from our back door towards the gate. My old single halogen, even with a 180 degree sensor could never light up either end well without compromising some other area. I didn't want to put two halogens up, as one would always be lighting up a redundant area and I'm trying to save electric bills not waste more. I also didn't want to wind my neighbour up too much with light pollution. The PIR is quite sensitive and can see really far away if you mount it high. It detects us coming from either end of our drive, and turns to light up the right place. The light from the LEDs impressed me, I was sceptical having seen the cheap efforts at my local B&Q. This unit uses decent "Nichia" LEDs and throw a decent pure white light which even my wife was impressed with. Note I was only replacing a 150W halogen but more than happy with the output from this compared to that. The light is also quite directional which works well actually because its robotic and means you can light up what you want, and not your neighbours so much. Now the drawbacks, of which there are a few but not deal breakers for me: More serious: the PIR has no tilt adjustment (the light itself does). So if you have to mount it high, say 15 feet up, you can get a dead spot on PIR detection when underneath since you cannot tilt the PIR sensor. For some, this could be a problem. For me, it created a small dead spot if I walk very tight against the wall underneath where its mounted. In practice its fine, although I would definitely prefer a tilt on the PIR. You could make a little bracket to sort this. Light comes on for 3 minutes, you cannot change it. Considering the low power consumption this doesn't bother me. The light only have 3 positions, left, centre and right. This is OK but just understand it doesn't position bang-on at you sometimes. When the unit reached either left or right extremes, the movement of the unit 'bounces' a bit hard. Hopefully it won't fall off the wall but it looks a bit klunky to me and they ought to smooth that out. So for us, this is working great and surpassed our single halogen's capability and saving money. The big question is will it last as I have heard others saying these things wear out quickly. I'll follow up one day if ours croaks prematurely. Chris

A good low power light
Needed to replace two halogen outside lights and this fitted the bill. Low power led lights are crisp and bright and follows you as we'll.
