NightShade Electronics energyShield 2 Basic - Rechargeable Battery Shield - Compatible with Arduino Uno R3

Powering an uno controlled paintball turret. Have yet to recharge it after several hours of programming and field use. I'm not powering anything crazy with it, and I expect battery life to be great as it is just a cell phone battery and is powering far less than a cell phone.I did have to modify the clips, I sanded the tips of the case clips down so that the end that sits on the USB port and power terminal of my UNO would go in further. I really wish the header pins were longer or they had moved the case clips to account for this.

I have an Arduino application where I'm counting pulses over a several-day period, and I don't want to lose any pulses. The Arduino is powered by a wall wart, but our power is not as reliable as I'd like, so I have an energyShield sitting on top to carry it through any power drops. It's truly easy to use; the Arduino doesn't even know it's there.

I thought my first EnergyShield was faulty, so I sent it back for replacement... and the second one also failed the same way. If you ever let the battery get discharged (by a power outage, etc), then it cannot continue powering your Arduino and any shields while the battery recharges, even from a 2A USB wallwart; in such a situation the battery continues to discharge while the Arduino runs until it fails completely and your Arduino starts rebooting about twice per second.If you need battery backup, please consider doing something else... like using a cheap USB battery bank that charges continuously from a wallwart.Needless to say... in disgust, I returned the replacement EnergyShield, too. No more. Ever.

This is a great idea and product. Needed s reliable way to pet my project and even find out it would eliminate both batteries from the project.

Product works great and got here fast.

Love this thing. Can finally get away from the computer with it and it doesnt really block any of the functionallity at all.

Awesome! Bought two so far and they have both worked great, no regrets, this thing is awesome powering my bots.
