Lalique: 7 (Shire Collections)

Lalique was a supreme artist and I think this book by Eric Knowles is one of the best , concise volumes on the subject . It mainly deals with the earlier times when Lalique was developing his craft , which I feel was his better years . The art deco statuettes , in particular , are very graceful objects .The book is full of beautiful coloured photographs encompassing a wide range of objects , including jewelry . A very nice , quality read .

We just love Lalique and this has just ignited our interest. A super book packed with illustrations and pictures of some fabulous items. we have learnt so much!

Excellent book, well written and presented with fabulous images of Lalique glass. Would highly recommend.

Great book .Full of beautiful photos of Lalique masterpieces.

So, how can I say that this 'new' book is not up to date? Well, it claims to be about the whole history of Lalique, including, as the description says 'and the glass of the Lalique company up to the present day.' Unfortunately the latter years are covered in remarkably scant fashion with very little of the recent work, and only half a dozen illustrations of what I might consider to be some so-so pieces. Infact, though we are copious collectors of recent offerings, none of our collection features at all!Gripe over, this is otherwise a lovely read and is well illustrated. I would not call it complete (for there is still much missing) but given the size and the price it's a great job. And penned by Mr Knowles you just know it's going to be authoritative without being pompous. Sadly and perhaps inexplicably given the popularity of Lalique, there are few books about it. That means if you want to read up on it, you've little to choose from. I you choose this book though, you will not be disappointed, just please, Eric, a little more on post 2000 work for the (hopeful) next edition and, perhaps, a feature on the Lalique museum too?

Arrived on time, excellent condition, full of information for research and plenty of good quality photos. Good value for lovers of lalique

Lalique is so gorgeous! Information presented is interesting and informative. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes glass as an art form

Loved the history along with the designs by Lalique designers. I admire the creativity shown by various Lalique family designers.
