Bought this as a gift for my BIL and he loved it. He said he uses it all the time. He said came sharp. He also said in his opinion the edge retention was good and easy to put a edge back on when needed. Might buy myself one soon

I think this knife is a good deal for the money, I have some pros and cons. The design is great, the handle ergonomics and blade shape are both great. The materials are great, idk if the blade is 10cr or vg10 (the product listing mentions both of those) but I can say that it has at least a decent heat treat. I've carried it for 3 shifts at work and done a good bit of light cutting, and I easily stropped it back to sticky sharp afterwards. The g10 scales are nice and they remind me of spyderco g10. The hardware is minimal, and the lock seems pretty safe. The detent is strong enough but a little light in my opinion. My complaints: fit and finish, and the lack of a pocket clip. The pivot is free-spinning and I havent been able to center the blade. My knife also has some side-to-side play in the open and closed position. There is also a little bit of detent lash when the blade is closed; the detent catches the blade a little bit before the blade hits the stop pin, so when you push on the closed blade you can feel a little more travel towards the stop pin. And no pocket clip. On day 3 of carrying the knife loose in my pocket, it opened a little bit and cut a hole in my pocket. A pocket clip and a slightly stronger detent would definitely fix this. Overall it's worth the money. If Tacray put a pocket clip on it and improved the fit and finish I would buy 2 more. I won't carry it anymore because of the hole it made in my pocket, and honestly I'm a little bit disappointed because I like the knife. I have civivis, we knives, demkos etc. But this cheap knife is actually pretty enjoyable.

I was looking at a compact, dedicated food prep knife for backpacking and this is exactly what I was hoping for. Bigger than I imagined, but still compact and feels good in the hand. I'm a lefty, so I find the button orientation is absolutely perfect for me. It is accessible for opening and closing, but also out of the way in any hand position I could try. This is not the case when using it right handed, but I still didn't have any issues with accidentally depressing it. Blade was passibly sharp out of the box, but it only took a few minutes of sharpening to get it shaving sharp. Sharpening was a breeze due to the edge geometry and blade profile. Cleaning was no problem, which was something I was worried about with a folder. Cutting with it for kitchen tasks has been excellent, though I admit I have only tried it in the kitchen thus far. So far, I am very pleased with this knife and will probably buy a few more for the rest of the family's camp kits. I'll see about updating this review after a few camping trips and see how it performs in the field.

Deducting one star for the pivot. Will not gravity open. Not a very good one hand opening experience either. The lock is sturdy and the blade is well aligned. Not the best for chopping larger vegetables like potatoes and onions because of the length but I should have picked the bigger one. That's on me. As for the steel. It seems to have pretty good edge retention. I've never owned vg10 before so i couldn't tell you if it is 100% legitimate, but It seems to be good quality. The factory edge isn't the best, pretty middling. I would put a new edge on it if I were you. This goes for most knives you buy. Even from high quality brands the factory edges are pretty meh.
