Black Transcend High-Speed RDF5 USB3.0 Card Reader
Neat and tidy. Reads only SD and Micro SD cards so is not cluttered with superfluous ports I will never use. Smokingly fast transfer rate of the photos from my Canon camera card. 48 pics transferred instantaneously, from my point of view. I clicked "move" and they were moved. Downloading from my camera, using the same usb3 port, takes a good few seconds with Windows. No additional software needed. Plug & Play. I plugged it in with the card inserted and the file open immediately, it took the "Device Ready to use" message another couple of seconds to appear. In every respect this is the Speedy Gonzales of card readers, and a very good price too. In total agreement with the other 2 reviews. I am so glad I chose this one.

Transcend SD and microSD Card Reader USB 3.0 - BRILLIANT PRODUCT
This item is a god send...when you think of the card readers of a few years back that cost an earth and sometimes worked if you were lucky this item really fits the bill perfectly. From several different memory cards a few years back we now seem to be getting to a point where SD and Micro SD and much more the norm in both Tablets, Phones and Cameras. As result wanted a quick way to gain access to my phones data, plus my tablets data plus my camera's data and even my camcorders data from SD cards in whichever format/full/micro/mini. Saw this product and just could not believe a USB3 stick for approx £6 could do the trick...I am eating my words. It works perfectly and really fast too. Its bright, looks the part on my desk and just does what I want it to do everytime. Just BRILLIANT!!!

Good overall
The good: -Small - This makes it easy to take with you in a pocket or bag -Fast - It's great for small transfers such as photos and files to and from the SD -Easy to use - Just insert SD and transfer The bad: -Only one SD at a time - If you want to transfer from one SD to another you will need to copy the files to your PC first Overall: It's good. With it's MicroSD and standard SD port you can use just one small adapter for everything (you can't use both at the same time though) Transfer speeds are good and it works great for small transfers such as photos, documents or videos and its small size means it's great for travelling

Having previously used USB memory sticks for storing mp3s, ...
Having previously used USB memory sticks for storing mp3s, documents, and photos, I decided to go the SD card route, so I could store the same amount (possibly more) in a smaller form... And having got a 64gb SD card for my camera, I thought I had it all in order. ...But not being overly familiar with SD cards, and their variations, I opted for the wrong one, in that my desktop PC card reader couldn't read SDXC cards which are formatted in exFAT, even though my more recent laptop could. This solved all problems though, as straight out of the packet, I put the SDXC in this, plonked it in my older desktop (USB 2.0 hole), and it was then usable on this, and all my kit. I can now even use the SD card on my TV, DVD PVR, and anything with a USB hole. It is USB 3.0, but, as you'd have discerned from the above, works on the older USB 2.0, and even gives this a little boost in performance (As much as USB 2 can be). Very cheap and convenient fix as an alternative to sending back "the wrong card" for exchange.

A great cheap option
I first bought one of these in June 2018. It finally stopped detecting SD cards a few days ago, in April 2026. I'd say 8 years is a pretty respectable life span for such a cheap electrical item. I'm sure there's newer/faster/more sturdy options out there but for occassional use these are pretty great, so I just bought another one.

Best bang per buck
This USB 3 SD/ Micro SD card reader is quite simply put the best bang per buck reliable reader there is. This is my 2nd one as I was so impressed with the 1st 1 that I bought. It's quite cheap & it's really good at it's job of moving data back & forth on your memory cards. This reader will be perfectly capable for the majority of users out there & should near enough max all your cards out at about 100Mbs +/- with DL's & UL's... If you have faster than 100mb/s cards & need that extra speed then I'd advice paying more & investing in the newer protocol Card readers but they're quite a bit more expensive by a long way. My cards are all U3 90/100 mbs ones so I'm happy enough with the speeds this little reader supplies to them as it maxes them out 99% of the time. Nothing bad to say on this product as it does exactly as it claims at a relatively cheap price too. Buy 1 ! unless you need Uber Quick Speeds ;)

Great little reader
When I bought one of my SD cards it came with a USB SD reader. When I buy microSD cards they usually come with an adapter to make them look like SD cards to card readers. Which is all well and good, but all my readers could support was SD and SDHC. As soon as SDXC appeared there was no assurance they would work, and it became a faff looking for the microSD adapter every time I wanted to read the smaller cards. This device has two slots - one for SD and one for microSD. It's a very neat compact unit, supports SDXC and also supports USB3 (useful for the higher capacity of SDXC cards). Of course it also supports SDHC and presumably regular SD (although I don't have any of the original SD cards to test it). It does feel a little flimsy at first, but then given how small it is it's hardly surprising, and it's the sort of thing I'd hope anyone would treat with at least a little care. It doesn't feel like it will break if I stare too hard at it, but I can see how putting much pressure on the case could cause problems. It's not a problem for me, it sits in a little pocket of my laptop bag with a few other USB doodads.

WOULD BUY AGAIN
I really like this item. I had bought it because at the time I was solely working on my desktop PC. My PC did not have any ports for putting in SD cards or anything similar, so i really needed it. It arrived quickly through prime (of course) and is actually really good and easy to use (I don't know how it would be difficult to use but i'm just making it clear that it is a good product). It reads all cards and they show up on the computer quickly. The USB 3.0 is also a great bonus because of the fact that it makes uploading images to your computer much faster, brilliant for the price i may add. The only downfall this product has is that any time i tried to put multiple SD cards in the card reader and then plug it into my computer, either none or only one would show. Maybe this is just a fault of my one and I don't really mind having to keep changing the SD cards, it isnt that much of a bother, but it does get a bit tedious. Oh well. All is well! Ive had it for a couple of months and its still going great. Thanks!

Transcend TS-RDF5K Memory Card Reader USB 3.0
Prima USB card-reader.
