Good for pruning trees
I bought this to do some serious pruning on a load of 30 foot leylandii trees. The Amazon price is the best I could find by miles. For tree cutting you need to buy some extra M1131 blades (about 11 quid for two on Amazon) as the wood blade supplied isn't really coarse enough for green wood. With the right blades, this saw is a dream. It goes through branches up to about 10cm easily, and will go up to about 15cm with a bit of patience and a bit of rocking forward/back over the cut. It therefore has about the same maximum cutting capacity as you can achieve with a bow saw, but is (a) a lot easier on the arm/wrist, and (b) you can get into smaller gaps where a bow saw simply won't fit. You may need a long extension lead though - the supplied cable is only about 2m. I did consider buying a proper full size reciprocating saw instead (eg there's a Black & Decker 1050W one you can get for about 70 quid) which would do even thicker branches, but I went into B&Q to look at it and it is massively heavy and there's no way you could use it up a ladder in a tree with two hands, let alone with one. This Bosch saw is not light, but it is possible to use it one handed, with care. I also looked at chain saws, but again they are way to heavy to use up a ladder, and can't be used one handed (and they scare the living daylights out of me). There is only one other similar saw I found, from Black & Decker (Scorpion Saw), but the reviews are poor for this type of task and it is underpowered, so I reckon this Bosch saw is the best tool for the job. I'm never going back to a bow saw again. This saw claims to be low vibration, and for small branches that is probably fair. For larger branches though, there is some vibration, and you can get some serious kick-back if the blade jams in the wood, so you need to take a bit of care to cut in such a way that the cut opens up under the weight of the branch rather than trapping the blade. I've only done the one tree so far, but I have a massive pile of logs and branches and the blade still seems sharp. I would definitely recommend this saw for pruning large tree branches.

Should have bought one years ago
A great little saw that just does what it says on the tin. Really easy to use and not too heavy. I found if I used it as a conventional saw to start a groove then used the power it stayed on track without jumping about, making a really smooth cut in a fraction of the time it would take by hand. Its really easy to get a straight cut too because you just hold it and follow your line. You do need to get the wood you are cutting held firmly down as the vibration can shake the wood around, but the saw is easy to hold in one hand while you hold onto any large extending piece of wood with the other hand. The variable speed is really useful. Comes in a lovely carry case and two blades, one a general purpose wood blade and one for hard wood and metal. I haven't yet tried cutting any metal. My only reason for not giving a full 5 stars is that the carrying case has slots for 3 blades, it seems a bit mean to onlygive you two, and looking on the web blades are fairly pricey. I've built two sets of shelves using the saw and saved a huge amount of time and saved my arms from aching. Cutting wood is now fun rather than a chore, there really doesn't seem any point in using a manual saw when you can get one of these.

What a fab item to have!!!
I've wanted one of these for a couple of years ever since seeing a builder use one in my roof to chop of the ends of joists in a fairly confined space. So I bought this saw when I started quite a large decking project at home thinking that it would 'probably' be useful and to be honest used the excuse to justify buying another tool! I am fortunate enough to have chop saw as well so at first all my frame work was cut on that but then I got to the awkward angles and this is where this saw came into its own. I simply layed a cross joist at an angle across the ends of all the joists, marked the ends of the joists with a pencil and then simply cut the ends off with this electric saw. Yes I probably could have used a normal saw but I was up against a rather nasty thorn hedge so that would have been awkward and in any case this saw made the job so effortless and so much quicker and because the blades are thicker than normal jig saw blades you also get a good straight cut. Also used it for a particularly difficult angle cut which would have been almost impossible 'for me' with a hand saw but with this I had no hesitation in going for it. But the beauty didn't end there. After screwing my deck frame together I needed to unscrew a couple of bits to level the frame and the usual happened. One screw head was damaged by an over excited electric screwdriver and there was no way I could get it out. I sat frustrated for a few minutes and then the solution suddenly clicked. I popped the metal blade into the electric saw, (such a simple fitting process) then slipped the blade between the joist and the post and started cutting. When I felt contact with the screw I eased the pressure slightly and within seconds I had cut through the screw and saved myself a major headache! I love this saw and I know that it is going to be an invaluable tool in the years to come.

good product, good price
I checked out the only similar product -the Black & Decker Scorpion, before purchasing, and this got a far better rating, and was a very good price. I wanted it mostly for cutting timber for our wood-burner, since hand sawing was far too much effort! It took a while to get used to the way of holding it, since it is quite weighty, but it cut through most of the timber with ease. I did find cutting through light-weight ply etc was hard going since it produced a lot of vibration - best to cut through several layers in one go, or use a jig-saw. On the whole, makes life a lot easier. It doesn't produce too much sawdust and gives a nice fine cut, if required but I did suffer from aching shoulders the next day.

Last one out of the toolbox
I have four Bosch electric saws in total: circular, jig, chain and this. All excellent but this. I have shoulder problems exacerbated by sawing so bought this to take some stress off. I'm not very impressed. The problem is not with the build. It's well designed and not too heavy. The no-tool blade change is handy. The problem is that for anyone who can saw decently by hand it offers no advantage. It is slower and less accurate. The enemy of sawing is vibration. Because this saw uses a fast but short "push-pull" action vibration is significant. This makes it hard to cut accurately one handed - best to clamp the piece. It helps to rest the 'heel' at the foot of the blade on the piece to reduce vibration where you can. So for carpentry work I think it is too slow and too inaccurate. For outdoor work the Bosch cordless chainsaw is excellent. The only thing I found this useful for is rough cutting offcuts for the woodburner. I could see this could be useful for people who can't use a conventional hand saw for whatever reason, but for any application which can be undertaken by another power saw I'd choose one of those first.

Solid Bit Of Kit
Bought a while ago and still going strong. A very good general saw - not too heavy either which means it's quite easy to use one handed with care. I have to say it is very well made - perhaps my only quibble is that the cable is a little short thought that just be me and my (sometimes) chaotic organisation of the job. I know other users have mentioned vibration and I tend to agree though personally I didn't think it was that bad. Blade changes are easy and the build quality of the saw is very good which helps when it comes to the blade change as there is the definite feeling - in my opinion - that the blade is secure and 'good to go'. It's a great, lightweight general purpose bit of kit - no issues with it at all.

Danger
This machine is very dangerous in inexperienced hands. I had a large fence panel I needed to cut into small pieces, so I could dispose of it. The machine doesn't cut smoothly, even though this wood was only a few millimetres thick, it kicks back very strongly if the wood you are cutting is not firmly clamped down. Well its very difficult to clamp a 6' x 6' fence panel so I ended up using a hand saw. I have worked on machines in the timber industries for years and with this experience I would say that the blades supplied either have the wrong sort of cutting teeth or there is not enough "set" on the teeth resulting in not enough clearance for the blade to do its work, so it jams and kicks back.

Un serrucho eléctrico estupendo.
Este serrucho es fantástico para la poda de árboles, además de muchas otras utilidades. La única pega es que el enchufe es Inglés y aunque se puede utilizar sin problema he tenido que comprar el adaptador.
