Plenty of cushioning for the money
I bought 2 of these mats as an alternative to normal air beds. I read various reviews and plumped for 5cm mats which I thought would do the job. I read the instructions and let them inflate a few times at home before taking them camping. They were great, they fold up fairly small to transport, a little large and heavy for hiking though I would say. It took only a few minutes to fully inflate and the depth was perfect for me. I was a little cynical in how they would perform in relation to an airbed due to quite a large depth difference.I am over 6 feet tall and around 15 stone, I found the mat to be very comfortable, It was far more comfortable than any air bed I have used, no rolling or loosing air through the night and plenty of cushioning, I personally don`t think it is worth paying more money for a deeper mat.My wife also found them to be very comfortable, normally when we go camping it is a little like " The Princess & The Pea", this time no complaints what so ever.Highly recommend

Comfy!
Great bit of kit. Really comfy. 7.5cm is perfectly comfortable especially for occasional camping. I also bought a 10cm double which is super comfy too. If you're dithering over which depth to buy then I would say if you can afford to spend more on 10cm then you should BUT these singles were a bargain price and for the extra I would have had to spend for 10cm singles it wasn't worth it. I slept on this single for a week and I was as comfy as in my own bed. It is thick enough to let out a bit of air if you prefer a slightly softer mat. I left mine overnight to fully inflate and plump up first time I unpacked it but after that it takes about 5 minutes to inflate. They do need storing inflated to stay in best condition so I'm keeping mine under the spare bed. You won't go back to old air beds after these. Highly recommended by me (a fair weather camper who likes a comfy bed!)

A Comfortable Nights Sleep Awaits
I upgraded to the Vango self-inflating mat from the run of the mill yoga like mat that most people buy for their first camping expedition. Chances are you're looking at it because you're tired from waking up during the night with aches and pains. The mat does what it says on the tin, it self-inflates efficiently and isn't too arduous to roll back up and get back in it's bag. My annual trip to WOMAD was so much better this year as a result of getting some decent sleep with not a hint of sore bones from lying on the ground, albeit on a 5mm layer of compressed foam. The one thing you should be aware of is it's not a lightweight model, I knew that in advance but I only had to get it from the house to the car to the tent pitch. If you are going to be doing a lot of hiking you'll probably want a lighter weight version, which you'll pay a little more for. However that said, assuming you don't mind carrying a little extra you'll find it's worthwhile due to the quality of sleep you'll get.For reference I'm 78Kg, if you're a bit heavier your experience may not be the same as mine but I think you'd have to be quite a bit heavier before it gets detrimental.

Great quality, comfortable, pleased, thank you
We got this for sleeping in our bongo - the flattened seats are really uncomfortable - so we needed something to make it more comfortable for our regular bongo over night excursions. We have found this mattress good - it is thick enough to give us a comfortable nights sleep without being too big, heavy and bulky. I find it is best to put the mattress in situ and leave it to self inflate for a few hours and then you only have to top it up by a few puffs to get a comfortable nights sleep. It is very good quality and well made. One slight issue is that it is a bit slippy and I have found it best to put a sheet over it - this is more comfortable and not a problem for me to use a sheet.Overall a good buy and will last for years I think.

Ok for the price, but quite a few major drawbacks.
Good sturdy Mat, but EXTREMELY hard to deflate and roll up alone (it requires the intense effort of two people) and a bit too thin and hard to sleep on a hard surface for more than one night (even then quite painful back in the morning). We use it in the back of Prius, but have now resorted to use an IKEA mattress instead and use this just to even out the surface of the trunk. Does NOT self inflate fully, it needs quite a few intense puffs of air from a fit person and quick reaction times to close the valve between them... would recommend for the price, but I am sure there are better options out there...

Nice and comfortable
Let me begin this by saying that I am not particularly a camping fan. I had camped as a teenager and found it very uncomfortable, so I was dreading taking my sons to family camp. On the recommendation of a friend we decided to get self inflating mats, and I can tell you it was very good advice. I was actually comfortable over night and it felt fairly similar to my bed back home. It was easy to inflate, just needing a few extra puffs after it did its self inflating business, and it stayed inflated for the two days with no signs of leaks. I could not feel the cold of the ground at all, or any bumps, plus it wasn't noisy or bouncy like normal air beds can be. Packing it up was easy too. Thanks to this (and some other decent kit) I am actually beginning to think we might go camping again for fun.

Sturdy, good value and comfortable
These are a simple design compared to some of the trendy looking mats on the market. Although they are simple, they are tough, long and thick enough to do a good job. We use them in our van as an extra to our mattress so they have been used night after night for weeks at a time without fault.

It's ok...
I got this for my daughter (9) and she finds it comfortable and warm so I can't fault it really. Sleeping bags don't grip the surface of it very well (not the mats fault but still a problem, I'm going to try using a sleeping bag liner on the outside of the sleeping bag next time). I find it bearable, a little narrow for me, still way better than an air bed (no cold coming through, quiet, no deflating, no sinking/rolling every time you move) - it's not a patch on my 10cm version though :-D
