Recommended by my Ortho Surgeon
XRays show I have a few bone spurs and a bunch of arthritis at the base of my big toe. I'm in my 50's and have had a knock knee on that leg and I'm sure 15 years of roller derby didn't help.My orthopedic surgeon recommended this kind of support and it took me two pairs of shoes to find one I could get the insole out of.This device does make the shoe a little tighter - but that's to be expected. Make sure you accommodate for this when selecting your shoes.I do a lot of work on uneven ground and this has really made a difference so I'm not in unbearable pain after a few hours. Not sure how long I'll be able to put off surgery, but this has definitely enabled me to do so for at least a few more years.

Squeaky, and wrong size if you follow instructions
Okay, so let me explain: sizing it to your foot should work, theoretically, IF your shoe is the right size and not a triple wide in men's like mine appears to be. I have an extra inch in the toe almost of my shoe, which means I needed to buy my shank according to my shoe size, not my foot. When I bought to my foot size, it worked really well, when it could stay in place. Short of strapping it into place, however, it wasn't doing me any good. I got one two sizes up, to fit my entire shoe, and while the shank doesn't fit perfectly against the ball of my foot, that's okay, because the pain relief is nigh immediate!BUY TO YOUR SHOE SIZE FOR THOSE POOR PEOPLE WITH LARGE SHOES!It does squeak horrendously when you walk on it. I haven't figured out how to end it, but I'll probably wind up wrapping it in duct tape.

Helpful Insoles
I have arthritis in my feet. My podiatrist basically, prescribed these insoles to help keep my feet from bending too much and irritating the joints while I'm out walking. They are made from a carbon fiber, and are somewhat stiff, which is what I needed. They do take some getting used to, but it only took me a couple of days to get used to them. They fit easily into my shoes under the regular insole and are true to size. I've had mine for about two months now. I put in about 2-3 miles of walking per day on them and so far, they are still holding up really well. My only complaint is they are a little bit spendy, but if I had to get actual prescription insoles, it would be far more. They come in a single pack, so if you need two, one for each foot, you will need to buy two packages.

Love them minus the squeak!!
My podiatrist recommended these and I was eager to try some thing for the arthritis in my big toe and side of my foot. As soon as I put them on, I felt a difference, but I absolutely could not stand the squeaking noise. I did some research as to what some other people have done to stop the squeaking in their insoles, but I found something that works so I feel that I need to share it! Duck taping both sides of the insert solved the squeaking problem (image attached), and I am so glad that I did this. Other than the noise, I would definitely recommend these inserts.
