I tested one of these by timing how long they really burn. I lit it and it burnt for 2 minutes with a slight burn (equivalent to about 5 zippo lighter flames for scale) and then it kicked into high gear for 5.5 minutes, with a very good burn, probably the equivalent of just catching a zippo on fire without the wick and full of fuel). Then it settled down to the 5 zippo level for another 45 seconds. So total burn time of about 8 minutes. You have to be a double left handed goober to not get a fire in that time. This would also work well to start a bunch of coals in a hurry for like big smokers. Honestly just buy it to smell it. They smell like candles. I think they use recycled paper and leftover candle wax and press them into these cubes.

These are easy to light and stay lit! I use 2 squares for the initial fire and it easily lights the stack of wood in the fireplace. No need to use them again unless your fire goes completely out. The only negative is that they have a perfumey scent but I did not take any stars off because that’s a personal taste issue. They work perfectly!

I bought this because I wanted fire blocks that were easier to break up than the brand I've used for several years which are so poorly scored I had to cut them with a utility knife. The Dextreme break up readily and they seem to burn well. The drawback for me is the very strong, flowery "fragrance" of the wax base, and since I use these in the house to start my pellet stove the odor is enough to cause me to look for yet another brand. A disappointment. But if you use these outdoors the odor probably would not be a factor.

These light up quickly and sustain long enough to get a fire going strongly. They also smell great.

These little squares are really easy to light up and they last longer than I expected. Nice scent as well, they've been great for starting up my grill and fireplace.Not much more to say about these, they're simple, useful,and last pretty long when lit up. For $10 these are definitely worthwhile as they make starting up a fire pretty painless.

I have been using these for the last 8 years to light lump coal for the green egg. Never had a Miss of a fire no starting.

These work great, just as intended. However, they do have a super strong perfumey scent. They almost smell like they're made out of recycled scneted candles, and I got a very floral smelling batch. They're totally fine for fires, but I would not use them to light charcoal for cooking because of the odor.
