Works as described. Worth the money.
This product is great. It's a very clever (but simple) design and works as described. I read the reviews stating people wrecked their carpets, and that it's not for the UK. But I genuinely had no problems with it. Just make sure the screw tip is poked through the carpet pile to the carpet base / bed before screwing through. I suspect if you start with the tip above the pile, it will pull out some material, although this is fairly common sense. The spacers are perfect to ensure the screw breaks within the floorboard. And not above. Very clever and well recommended.Watch the YouTube video to get and idea before buying / starting work.I did my entire staircase which had very squeaky steps.

I hope "O1Berry" will take that into account and make some changes to make it even better product. As I said it does the job ...
the concept works and stops the squeak. my only reason to give 4 stars is the drill bit that you need to use to find out if there is a joist or not (where you want to screw and stop the squeak coming) has very small head for power drill to grip to it. The reason this needs a bigger head is because once you drilled through the layer off the floor and if there is no joist, the drill bit should slide up and down which means there is no joist and that is where my power drill losing the grip to it and makes it impossible to move the drill bit up or down. I hope "O1Berry" will take that into account and make some changes to make it even better product. As I said it does the job once you managed to find the joist :-)

Absolute genius invention.
When my wife mentioned that there was a product that could fix squeaks without having to raise the carpet / underlay, I didn't believe her. Now I do. This product is brilliant - it really works! Whoever invented the screw (2 different threads and a deliberate weak spot to snap off) is a genius. The hard part is finding the original joist to drill into, but thats a different issue - using the (included) joist finder screw worked best, once I had a rough idea of where to start. Its not the cheapest, but much cheaper than paying a carpet fitter / carpenter etc.

AVOID! you are very likely to hit a water pipe
AVOID! As other users noted, you are very likely to hit a copper water pipe without even noticing until water comes down through the cealing floor below. Only plumbers love it earning a fortune from call-out charges. In addition: It decreases squeaks but does not eliminate them entirely. Some of these screws snap spontaneously above the carpet sticking out. Once they are in, there is no way to unscrew them and lift the floor boards without damage. Lifting carpets and doing it properly (replacing nails with regular screws) isn't that hard, and I would recommend that instead.

Worked fine when we practiced on a hidden squeaky floor board ...
Worked fine when we practiced on a hidden squeaky floor board in my spare room, it stopped the noise and the nail could not be seen or felt through the carpet, which despite being quite thin did not show any sign of damage. However, using it in my lovely, thick carpet in my newly decorated bedroom was less successful and for several seconds I had an indoor water fountain and it rained in my living room for several minutes afterwards! As the carpet had to come up to fix the leak I didn't use the screws to see how well they stopped the squeak there. However the risk is inherent in the product so it is up to you whether to try it.Use at your own risk and make sure that you have located the stopcock, and that it can be shut off in an emergency!

I can’t believe it - it only bloody works!
I bought this with more than a little doubt about its effectiveness. It’s very expensive to just fix a squeaking floorboard but it just got to me in the end and I couldn’t put up with it any longer.I have a tufted carpet in the room, which made it easier, as there is no risk of pulling a twist or loop. I located the joist with a separate electronic finder and then confirmed it using the special ‘joist finder’ screw. I then followed the clear instructions very carefully. And it works!! Once screwed to the limit of the depth gauge, using the gauge to then flex off the top of the screw, the screw snapped off below the carpet and actually I suspect slightly below the top of the softwood floorboard. The carpet is undamaged and you’d never know it has been touched - except the squeak is gone. Time will tell whether a headless screw can really hold a softwood floorboard right to the joist using the thread alone. But initial response is good.
