John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Dark Cool Espresso Brown, 1 Application

I have fine, 2B/2C, low-porosity hair that’s collarbone length (level 7 at the roots, with some leftover dye from a few months back). I used John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in Dark Cool Espresso Brown, and here’s the breakdown: Pros: •The foam texture is a game-changer—super easy to apply, way less messy than the typical creams. •The color is exactly as described. No accidental “oops, it’s basically black now” situation (looking at you, every other dark brown dye). •The conditioner is actually a travel-size tube instead of the sad little aluminum packet most brands give you. Cons: •My color isn’t perfectly even, but that’s on me for being lazy and skipping proper sectioning. Don’t be me; do the sections. Overall: Highly recommend! I only needed one box (with a bit left over), the color is rich and true-to-tone, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing. Bonus points for making my hair feel soft and shiny after. Ive always boxed dyed my hair at home and this brand is by far the most accurate and dependable color for me. For context I have very porous medium brown hair with a red undertone and spots of gray. My hair is mid-long length at about armpit length. I use 2 boxes and still have plenty left after saturating my hair. My hair always turns out to be a dark brown color- not black, which is hard to accomplish with a lot of dark brown hair colors. Not that I care to color my gray strands, it does accomplish this. I just try to have more uniform colored hair due to the undertones I naturally have. The dye itself is very easy to work with and a lot less messy than traditional box dye due to the foam. Some tips I would recommend are to place vaseline or petroleum jelly around your hair line, neck being your ear, around your ear tips, etc to avoid getting dye on your skin. This is inevitable with every hair dye if you are pressed on making sure your roots and edges are dyed. After you finish the dye and you have to wait, you can use some type of wipe, wash cloth, etc to wipe where the dye/vaseline are and it comes right off.

Very much allergic to PPD in hair dye, this has not caused any reaction. The foam is easy to apply. Definitely make sure it’s on thick! Seems to wash out a little faster than other box kits I’ve used, but a great product for covering grays and ease of application!

Just colored my hair with John Frieda's Dark Cool Espresso Brown precision foam. Foam dispenses easily goes on evenly. I was previously using Samy fat foam in dark brown and the coverage and lasting power of that dye was just ok. I have long thick wavy hair and used 2 packages of dye to cover my entire head. I started out with dark brown ends with medium reddish brown roots. This products evened out the color and came out a beautiful shade of dark brown black. I will definitely use this product again. This color does come out looking very dark dark brown or black depending on the lighting. If you are looking for shade suggestions select a shade in this brand 1 level lighter than you would like the color to be as the color tends to develop darker. If you have long thick hair you will probably need 2 boxes of color. This is by far the best box color I have ever used and will continue to use this brand and this shade.

I used this product about three weeks ago. I am young (21) and just got the color for a darker brown color compared to my light brown. The color was amazing the first week, but I noticed within the next two weeks the color rinsed out and the longevity was not there. Even though it says "permanent" I do not believe the color lasted long to hold the truth. My hair was the darkest brown in the beginning, but now my natural light brown is back which is what I was not trying to achieve. The color just was temporary and did not last as long for my liking.

So easy to use. Lasts for 2-3 months depending on your shampoo.

This was the easiest hair color to use, and the color was great after, but after the 2nd wash a lot of color was coming out and looked like I never even did it to begin with. There was no damage and I was able to color again with a different brand, also with no damage,its a shame because I really liked the foam.

I liked the consistency and ease of applying foam but the color payoff was bad for me. Wouldn't use again
