A Superb watch
WVA-M650TD-1AER :- This is a really superb watch in terms of it's functionality. The watch is incredibly light, due to its titanium bracelet. If you like a watch with a heavier feel to it, then consider getting the version which is not titanium (WVA-M650D-1AER), but it looks substantial for all that. The watch body is part plastic, but this is necessary to enable the radio time signal to reach the electronics. The solar recharge works very well even in moderate lighting, and if you enable the energy saving mode then it's unlikely to ever be an issue. Having an LED that illuminates the analogue hands as you raise your arm to read the watch is a superb feature, but you can make the illumination work on a button press if the automatic feature is distracting (driving at night). Illumination only lasts for 1 second. I personally would prefer this to be a little longer, but the good thing is the time is very easy to read even when it is pitch black. The World time feature alows you to see the time in other countries, handy if you call friends around the world, and you want to check what time it is there, before making your call. Also if you travel to another country you can syncronise the analog hands to that time zone by pressing the correct buttons.Unlike most other analogue/digital watches, you don't have to set the hands manually: they track the digital time automatically. You can re-calibrate the hand position if you ever need to.The little extra little hand near the nine position helps to give you an idea of what the watch is doing or displaying. It also advises you on the current state of battery charge. The digital display can switch between time (12 or 24 hour format) or date (Month & day) the day of the week is displayed in the top left. Note that the date is displayed as Month – Day, you cannot change to Day – MonthIn all this is a great time piece at a reasonable price for all the features you are getting

Almost perfect, amazing value.
Ignore the review that claims the watch does not have a date function. It does. As I have set mine it shows the day of the week, the date and the month simultaneously. By pressing the bottom right hand button you can change the display from showing the date to showing the time in hours, minutes and seconds while retaining the day of the week. Instead of sending it back all he needed to do was press this button. I spent ages doing a market survey and eventually chose this watch. I am very pleased with it. This watch is almost perfect. It has a battery (strictly only a cell probably) that is charged by the built in but invisible solar cell. It gets enough light even though it regularly gets covered by my sleeve. There is a state of charge (low, medium, high) indicator on the face. The watch will flash a warning if I have covered it for too long. The timekeeping is synchronised to national transmitters around the world so it is always incredibly accurate. It shows the date and day of the week. It automatically corrects itself for the 1 hour changes in the spring and autumn for daylight saving. The backlight switches on automatically at night when I hold my forearm horizontal and rotate it towards myself, as I do when checking the time. My only criticisms are very minor and they are that the backlight only comes on for about 1 second, I would prefer a bit longer perhaps 1.5 seconds. Looking at the side of the case it is grey plastic to let the “wave-ceptor” radio signal reach the internal time signal receiver. The grey is a good match for the colour of the titanium lightweight case, so it’s not visible unless you are looking for it. The watch gives a soft double bleep on the hour which is useful. The watch and strap are very light being made of titanium. It is very easy to reduce the length of the strap yourself thanks to the cunning design. The clasp design is also cunning being very quick and easy to open and close but robust. The watch is value for money especially when compared with the very expensive brands which all seem to be inferior in terms of capility and features.

After 8 years top screen fuzzy on left side.
Thi is a lovely watch with all the features that I need.Unfortunately after 8 years the top digital screen has gone fuzzy on the left hand side. The right side of the same screen is still okay. It's a very odd fault. It's probably not worth fixing.Otherwise, a great watch.

A very affordable timepiece
This is a really superb watch in terms of it's functionality, and it picks-up the time signal in even the most challenging situations. It even synchronises in the tin-can packaging that it comes in! Mind you, the transmitter is only a few tens of miles from here; but still impressive. The watch is incredibly light, which is a good thing or a bad thing depending upon your point of view. If you like a watch with a nice hefty feel to it, then you will be disappointed, but it looks substantial for all that. The watch body is part plastic, but this is necessary to enable the radio time signal to reach the electronics. If you really must have a hefty watch with similar (ish) features then you will need to look at the Seiko Astron range or something similar, but ten times the price! The solar recharge works very well even in moderate lighting, and if you enable the energy saving mode then it's unlikely to ever be an issue. Having an LED that illuminates the analogue hands as you raise your arm to read the watch is a superb feature, but you can make the illumination work on a button press if the automatic feature is distracting (driving at night, possibly?).Unlike most other analogue/digital watches, you don't have to set the hands manually: they track the digital time automatically. You can re-calibrate the hand position if you ever need to. The little extra little hand near the nine position helps to give you an idea of what the watch is doing/displaying.If you're crossing two different time zones with any regularity, switching between your home time zone and the alternate is dead easy, and it's just as easy to flip back again. The hands move faultlessly and in perfect sync with the digital time reading.
