Way back in the mists of time (okay the late 1980s) I had a matte black Zippo lighter that was my best friend. Never let me down, even in the middle of a windy Festival field. Somewhere between getting married and birthing a sprog I lost the blinking thing. So, 26 years later and unable to kick the nicotine habit and getting increasingly sick of disposable lighters (not only do they have a habit of jamming the flint when still half full but they are plastic of a non-recyclable kind) I decided it was time to treat myself to a new Zippo. I did look at various designs and pricepoints but decided that I would go with a direct replacement for my old favourite and purchased a black matte lighter. I have to admit that the price did make me wonder if this would be a genuine Zippo, when I looked at them in a local shop even the basic versions (ie. no nice design or engraving) started at £30. I am relieved to report that it is very definitely a genuine product and the build quality that I remember is still there. The lighter units sits snuggly in it's case and there is no lid or hinge movement when closed. Just waiting until I've had it 6 months and the hinge relaxes a little so you can flick it open with one wrist flick and then flick it closed again - annoying little habit but one I look forward to resurrecting. Comes with the wick ready threaded and a flint in place in a cardboard presentation box with guarantee. The box is nicely styled and does make it look special. You do need to provide the lighter petrol yourself (somehow I still had half a tin so didn't need to purchase any) but it is readily available both online and at Tobacco kiosks and counters in Supermarkets. Filling it is easy, and easy to overfill too - I did and there was fuel on the case outer and inside the lid. Makes it fun those first couple of strikes as it will catch. However, despite having a little fire on the outside of the case it did not damage the finish which shows no sign of my clumsiness. In these days of Climate Change small changes can make a difference. So, if you are still a traditional cigarette or cigar smoker or like the Great Outdoors and usually carry a disposable plastic lighter one easy change is going to a sturdy, true refillable lighter (lets face it those plastic things have a butane refill port but who bothers to try?). A tried and tested brand that is functional but somehow manages to remain stylish and will last you for your lifetime (if you are careful and don't lose it) has to be better than adding to landfill.

I don't smoke but I do like to carry a lighter, as I have friends who are forever running out of matches and those cheap disposable lighters will inevitably die at the worst possible time. Zippo are the leading name in refillable lighters for a good reason - this product is well made, durable and perfectly proportioned. It just feels right in your hand, there's really no better way of putting it. If you're looking for a well priced, well made refillable lighter that's going to last then look no further. The massive range of colours and designs guarantees that there's something for everyone, but I like the plain matte black. It's timeless, doesn't come off as flashy and gives off a nice "I'm a practical person, this is my practical lighter" sort of vibe. Ideal really, and the refills are dirt cheap.

Genuine zippo lighter, easy to use, realiable, durable and light. The lighter did how ever come with small dents on the top and a lump of paint in the outside layer. Not all that noticable though. The product is as advertised. I would recommend buying zippo accessories elsewhere or from a local/ near by store; if possible. I am still waiting for extra flints, wicks and fuel that were recommended with the zippo purchase. And because I don't want to buy more I am waiting longer than I would like to; to fill my zippo. Most alternate lighter fuels work fine with zippos, keep that in mind. When considering purchasing zippo branded fuel. I highly recommend zippos as durable lighters for those who go camping or those who need to use a light for those windy days consisting of fowl temperatures. That and others always seem to ask for a light and everyone pulls out cheap lighters to then spend the next 5 minutes battling with the wind. You will feel great pulling out your zippo, saving the day for everyone.

After becoming mildly frustrated with trying to light things outside without looking like a penis, I decided to get a Zippo. It arrived in a reasonable time and was very nicely packaged. After purchasing fuel and filling it up, you'll find the flame burns well even when it is very windy outside. It's also nice to have it laying around, as the lighter has a pleasant weight to it, and learning to do a few simple tricks is a nice way to pass the time. After using my lighter for about 6 months on a semi-regular basis, the hinge still works well as does everything else. You won't want to leave the lighter full of fuel all the time (unless you use it very often) as the fuel evaporates out of it pretty quickly. You'll need to get wicks and flints as well at some point, as these need replacing after a while. I highly recommend getting this if you're at all interested in a Zippo. Whenever I use it people always comment on what a nice lighter it is, and it seems like no one can resist picking it up and having a play with it.

Zippo has an excellent reputation to start with and most of the reviews that I read about any of the lighters were four or five stars. I rely a lot on reviews to decide what to buy when I need something, now I'm giving back. The shipping was about 4 days earlier than estimated -other reviews mentioned fast shipping too in case you don't believe me ;). My package came from Mississauga Ontario and I live in Winnipeg so it wasn't too far maybe compared to some So far this lighter is excellent, it will run out of fluid faster because it is a wick lighter but that is to be expected. The case is slightly thinner and more flimsy than I thought but it seems to be holding up. it will not rust because the case is made of brass the "distinctive zippo click" is pretty cool. The flame is great, it is quite large and even though it is not pressurized and blowing out into a blue cone it is just as windproof. A nice thing with this lighter (wick lighters in general) is that you don't have to hold a button to maintain the flame. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of this zippo lighter, i like the look, wick lighters and the black matte doesn't attract finger marks!

Diese Rezension schreibe ich als Vergleich um potenziellen Käufern bei der Entscheidung zu helfen. Der Inhalt dieser Rezension beruht auf meinen Ansichten die ich zu den beiden Feuerzeugen habe, die mir geliefert wurden. Ich habe mir gleichzeitig ein Zippo Black Matte (18,50€) (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0017T2LQY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) und ein IMCO-Triplex 6700 (25,90€) ( https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002G76PYK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) bestellt. Beides sind Originale, wobei die Imco Feuerzeuge nicht mehr in Österreich produziert werden. Das Zippo kam 1 Tag früher als erwartet, dass IMCO einen Tag später als erwartet. Zusätzlich habe ich mir ein Set von Zippo (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0047H903A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) bestellt mit 125ml Benzin, 1x Docht und 6x Feuersteine bestellt für 6,90€, die pünktlich ankamen. Zu allererst passen die Zippo Ersatzkomponenten ohne weiteres auch zum IMCO. Persönlich finde ich das Zippo Benzin nicht geruchsneutraler als z.B. Feuerzeug Benzin vom Netto. Hier bei ist mir sogar der Gedanke gekommen, ob es nicht exakt das gleiche Benzin ist mit einem anderem Aufkleber auf der Dose. Zur Brenndauer kann ich im Moment allerdings nichts sagen. Beim Zündeln mit beiden Feuerzeugen ist mir nach einem Tag aufgefallen, dass beide sich sehr ähnlich sind: -gehen beide ohne Probleme beim ersten (beim Zippo sehr selten auch mal beim zweiten) mal an. -Befüllen ist bei beiden recht simpel mit dem Unterschied, dass in das Zippo ein kleines bisschen mehr reinpasst. -die Flamme des Zippo ist recht groß wodurch auch viel Sprit verbraucht wird, die des IMCO hat eine angenehme Größe, lässt sich allerdings mithilfe des Lüftungsschiebers deutlich vergrößern. -oft hört man, dass der Wechsel des Zündsteines bei dem Imco aufgrund des Mechanismus viel einfacher ist. Dem stimme ich nicht zu. Bei beiden Feuerzeugen lässt sich dieser Problemlos wechseln. Es ist nun mal ANDERS. Aber meiner Ansicht nach bei keinem von beiden erheblich schwerer oder einfacher. -Positiv beim Imco ist für mich der zusätzliche Platz für einen Ersatzfeuerstein. -Positiv beim Zippo ist für mich die Einfachheit des Aufbaus: Es gibt nichts das wirklich kaputt gehen könnte. Beim Imco habe ich die Vermutung dass aufgrund der "Komplexität" des Aufbaus eher etwas kaputt gehen könnte, hier betone ich aber das es nur eine Vermutung ist und ich kein Gutachter bin. -der allgemeinen Qualität der Feuerzeuge was Material und Verarbeitung angeht würde ich 5/5 Sterne geben. -das Zippo hat eine Lebenslange Garantie, die in Deutschland angeblich gesetzlich auf 30 Jahre beschränkt ist. Mir ist aber zu Ohren gekommen dass auch Ältere Feuerzeuge in Emmerich bei Zippo repariert werden. Ob dies stimmt kann ich nicht bestätigen. -Information zu einer Garantie für Imco Feuerzeuge liegen mir leider nicht vor. -beide Feuerzeuge liegen gut in der Hand. -Imco kann man als "Kerze" verwenden. -das Entzünden einer Kerze die auf dem Tisch steht ist mit dem Zippo schwierig da die Flamme beim schräg Halten des Feuerzeuges weiterhin nach oben "flüchtet. Das Imco kann man selbst als Kerze benutzen und zum entzünden einer weiteren Kerze Docht an Docht halten. Natürlich kann man auch einfach die Kerze schief halten und mit dem Docht in die Zippo Flamme halten..... . Persönlich finde ich das Imco auf den ersten Blick etwas zu teuer und hätte lieber ungefähr so viel wie für das Zippo bezahlt, auf den zweiten Blick ist mir aber aufgefallen, dass Zippos auf der offiziellen Zippo-Webseite deutlich teurer sind. Das günstigste, welches ich dort gefunden habe lag bei Rund 40€. Daraus schließe ich, dass die Preise auf Amazon sowohl für das Zippo als auch für das Imco in Ordnung sind, da Sturmfeuerzeuge anscheinend teuer gehandelt werden. Wenn es darum geht welches Feuerzeug man sich kaufen sollte kann ich keine klare Empfehlung machen. Beide Feuerzeuge haben auf jeden fall Stil. Beide sind einfach in der Handhabung. Beide sind unkompliziert in der Wartung. Verbrauchsmaterialien (Docht, Feuerstein, Benzin) bekommt man für beide sehr einfach da Zippo Produkte überall erhältlich sind und auch ins Imco passen, wobei nicht unbedingt ZIPPO draufstehen muss( Bsp.: Benzin ). Im Endeffekt muss man also nach seinen persönlichen Vorlieben entscheiden, ich weiß noch nicht welches ich regelmäßig benutzen werde da beide Spaß machen. Ich bin mir aber ziemlich sicher, dass man von keinem der beiden Feuerzeuge enttäuscht. Ich hoffe ich konnte weiterhelfen.
