Cute if not a little predictable
I enjoyed a lot about this book—most notably the main characters and their individual stories—though I do feel as if certain aspects were rushed over in the name of ease.SPOILERS AHEADFrederick and Cassie are very lovable together, though there are pieces of their respective characters that don’t make a lot of sense or feel little more than throw-away lines in an otherwise cute book! Frederick’s ‘vampire talent’ being that he accidentally summons fruit when nervous while other vampires are seen flying or mentioned turning wine into blood is a little laughable just because it really holds no purpose in the story, but something about how he shares his affliction is endearing in a way.Cassie’s arc being her finding a job that she feels fulfilled in and then magically finding a role that she isn’t specifically qualified for and getting the job (after we read through a relatively long interview while the MMC has literally been kidnapped) just isn’t super believable as much as we’d want it to be. And, I know, how am I reading this book about vampires and complaining about believability? I couldn’t tell you.The story’s main conflict and climax are intriguing, though the resolution is simply too convenient for any of it to make sense. While I find the vampires’ fear of TikTok amusing, I just didn’t feel fulfilled with Cassie’s heroic save as it wasn’t engaging whatsoever.Pieces of the writing—conversations between characters, text threads, diary entries of a 300 year old vampire—are very fun and bring a level of complexity to an otherwise one-sided narrative, but I like many others think this story could have used another thorough exploration to truly do it justice. With the introduction of so many characters and unique customs, I could easily see this book being a part of a pair or trilogy. Dare I say a duology? Either way, I had a good time reading it and can’t wait to see more from the author!

light romantic read
This was a light read, romance and super natural. I enjoyed it but was a bit predictable and left a few things wide open to ponder what happened and just me but ending was just a bit quick no drama just ends no faurther troubles. Good read

SUPER cute debut!
Really can't remember the last time I was completely blown over (in a good way) about a debut, but this was perfect and everything I needed right now. I've been in a romcom kick for a little while, but it's also spooky season and I need vampy men in my life. Alas, I gave into temptation when I kept seeing this pop up on my feed. Plot sounded to cute to resist, and because I'm impatient AF, I immediately starting listening to the audiobook. It was just perfect. It's light-hearted. It's laugh-out-loud funny at times. (Frederick's coffee shop bumblings and Google searches were absolutely killing me in the best ways.) And above all else, it's swoon worthy. For being a fish out of water trying to blend in, Frederick still managed to maintain his dignity even as he struggled with the modern world and how much life had changed. His old-worldly charm and social graces make him an endearing character all the same. I loved their little notes back and forth--wax seal and all. I really couldn't really imagine a more imperfectly perfect fit for Cassie. She, too, is a great character. Her struggles to achieve her dreams in a creative capacity felt real and relatable. I was cheering for her every bit as much as I was cheering for both of them. Such a fun, cute, and romantic story overall. If you're looking for something light-hearted and vampy for this spooky season, check this out!

Lots of Giggles! (Spoilers-ish)
This is a great quick read if you want a hit of romance! I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy’s lately that haven’t had much romance in them but this book just gave me the best hit of it! A struggling girl who finds an apartment bill that best fits her financial state and a man who’s lived hundreds of years trying to find his way back into the modern world. Some may say the plot was quite predictable but I like cheesy romances that you can predict because it gets you excited for what’s next even if you know it not! Throughout the book many aspects of it made me squeal with excitement or even giggle out loud. It is an easy flowing book and I believe people who are big fans of rom coms will absolutely eat it up! If I could read it again for the first time I would!

It’s alright
Cons:-Too much critique on late stage capitalism (which, to be fair, wasn’t that much). Every time Cassie mentioned it when talking about her art, I rolled my eyes. I also didn’t like Cassie’s character in general, but it could also be that I’m one of those people who doesn’t understand her (I might just be an a-hole who doesn’t value art that critiques politics/society).-The ending was so anticlimactic and felt rushed. Hopefully this wouldn’t be considered a spoiler (I’ll try not to go into too much detail), but the whole TikTok plot point and the fact that Cassie didn’t just get murdered is the most unrealistic part about this story, and I’m saying that knowing that there’s vampires in it.-This book made me realize that I’m not a fan of romance novels that just stay within one person’s perspective. The whole thing is first-person perspective from Cassie’s PoV. However, there were letters and diary entries and humorous text message conversations that were usually at the beginning of some chapters that clued you in on Frederick’s thoughts so that was nice. I would’ve liked a few chapters completely from his perspective, though.Pros:Spicy and there were also plenty of cute moments which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed Frederick learning about the modern world.

Cute!
I would like to give it a 4.5 stars. If you looking for a short, cute, and funny story then you find it! I enjoy reading/ listening to the story. It’s different from the other stories I read. It could have been more in depth with the characters, but like I said it was a short story from what I’m used to reading. First time buying a book from this author. I will give her next book a try. I have the next one in the series.
