Review: Something Different - Gray Matter was my first Nick Pirog read but not my last. It took me a few chapters to get into his style and sense of humor but now I am hooked. The story had intriguing twists and turns and its main character, Thomas Prescott has such a bizarre sense of humor, I wish he was one of my friends. If you are looking for a refreshing, compelling and very moreish read, give Nick Pirog a go, you won’t be disappointed. Review: Nick Pirog Gray Matter - Loved the characters, loved the sarcastic dialogue of the main character. The ending was a little rushed at the end but the author noted he was only 22yrs old when he wrote this. The dialogue and events keep you reading, it was an enjoyable read.

Poor location research
I can't get past the numerous incorrect references to Seattle. The courthouse is not 3 blocks from the Space Needle. It is not a 40 min drive to the Bainbridge ferry from Magnolia (even in crazy traffic, i used to make that drive regularly and still do once a week) unless you're going to take the wrong ferry and backtrack like crazy. It is PIKE Place not Pike's, and so on. I had high hopes because the initial information about Magnolia was accurate but from there the geography of Seattle is all discombobulated. As someone else mentioned, a non local may not notice some of the glaring inaccuracies but anyone with a passing familiarity of Seattle will be off put by it. My mom is terribly geographically challenged and often gets turned around in Seattle but even she would notice many of the issues.

Really enjoy author's style
Wow! Just finished and WOW! Really enjoy author's style. Very fast paced. Lots of twists and turns and given grizzly material, still a good amount of humor. I had read the first in the series just days ago and launched immediately into this one. And I doubt the day will end without me starting the 3rd. Love this author.

Juvenile character
The main character’s sarcastic attitude and “cute” remarks never end. Very juvenile. Didn’t appreciate the language. It added nothing to the story. He was self absorbed and whiny. Some of the situations were just unbelievable. I found it difficult to keep reading

Do your research
Good characters, nice plot twist, but needs better editing. If you use real places and names, you need to get them right. I found the mistakes about Seattle, Paul (not Steve) Allen, Bill Gates etc distracting. But nonlocals probably wouldn't notice.
