KeyTool 8-in-1 Keyring Multi-tool, True Utility

Oh dear! Nearly 900 reviews at the time of writing and all the top reviews seem to disregard the item's actual purpose. For the record; it is unlikely to save you from Armageddon. However, it is very handy when simply everything else is not at hand. Of the 8 claimed tools, I have certainly used 5 in earnest. Scrabbling around to tighten a glasses screw, open a bottle, remove a splinter etc, this item has served me well, with a welcome realisation that... hang-on, I've got that key-tool thingy! None of the 'tools' match the actual thing, but how could they? They do the job at a pinch. It is a tool that is just always there; quietly awaiting the time to come into its own. It's gone through airport security maybe 40 times without mishap and consequently I have bought it for friends and family; though only when the price had hit sub £5. At its current price- circa £9- it is way too expensive for what it is (for my money) but it is a sound piece of steel that is much stronger than it looks. I take my hat off to whoever designed it.... the nay-sayers certainly haven't come up with an alternative to match its usability to weight ratio! If that's a thing.

A handy item to keep on your keyring. Often I ind myself in need of a small screwdriver to fix reading glasses or in need of a small lever to open a bottle, etc.This does it well.However, it has very sharp edges and does stick out from the key, so:1. Can catch on item of clothing in same pocket, such as gloves, hanky.2. Gets in the way and bit when using the key and with the sharp edges have to take a little bit of care.

The tool feels sturdy. Its made from thick enough metal that it doesn't bend out of shape when opening bottles or screwing screws. The tweezers end is thinner and bends enough to use them. The cutter is sharp enough to cut through a plastic tie, with some effort. The key ring has a strong spring in it sand doesn't feel like it will come open easily. The file has the right texture and does the job. When using the key in a lock, I found its better to have the tool rotate down to get the key in (the opposite way to the photo), its easier to do it one handed. Of course, you don't have to have it over the key as it makes a good key ring accessory anyway. I've kept it over the key because I think it looks cool.

It's okay, and to be fair, it never leaves my keyring, as it fits around a key so well, but the only really usable bit is the bottle opener. The other functions are all but impossible to use without removing it from the key ring, and even then they're not that good.

Amazing. The tool works with practice and some manual dexterity. The small screwdriver,bottle opener, nail file works as intended. The cutting blade is decent to cut thread and trim nails. The tweezers seem okay and overall I am please to say with practice this product is a good buy.

I suppose if you're stuck, then maybe - but I don't think this is going to last as it feels very cheap and flimsy.

Bought as a birthday present for my elder brother who needed a new bottle opener and he was thrilled with it. It opens bottles, files things and unscrews things, as it should. Feels very well made and the weatherproof box is an added bonus - although it won't fit a 4.5in smartphone.

It isn't easy to part with a tenner for a little keychain tool, but it is a good purchase in the long term. Can't count the number of times I've used it for little things, and generally just knowing that you have a tool available (even a small, light-duty one) is a piece of mind.Note: it does make your keyring a bit jangly-sounding, so if you're a keychain minimalist it might not be for you.

CONS:1. It is a Chinese duplicate of TU247.2. The supplied small Carabiner should be thrown away. I think its not metal at all.3. Quiet pricey for a duplicate. (But gets shipped from china and transportation counts, even though the size is small).PROS:1. The supplied keytool works as advertised. Its sturdy and all functions are good. Specially the edges of each tool is tapered and smoothed correctly such that there are less chances of personal injury. Tweezers are not great, but OK. The cut function again is good for cutting clothing label wires to fishing lines at best. But that's expected.2. The original retails at almost $10, this at about $ 3.5 max. Therefore, its not at all a bad buy, but should be cheaper considering there is very little material cost.Note: Works perfectly well with Swiss+Tech/ Daluci - Utilikey multitool and 20 in 1 EDC carabiner multitool/ True Utility Fixr. Handy little tool that takes up very little space. I am most surprised by the quality of the steel that it is made from.
