Nice and simple.
Easy to re proof my Barbour, just hang your coat up in the shower and then give it a good drenching with this and pad it down. I did a couple of coats for a medium size short jacket. Still had about 50% left. I went extra on shoulders and seams and after a few days the smell goes and works well as the water was beading again. Is it as good as proper waxing, no, but it’s good if you don’t want to spend that time and mess doing it. If it’s heaving down I wear goretex rather than wax.

Good product, easy to apply, and dries invisible, water now beads as it should.
Works as it should, quick drying time.

How to get rid of smell
I found the nikwax wax cotton an excellent product .There isn't hardly anything on YouTube about how to apply it but it's really very simple.Lay the product flat ,spray on then spread evenly, leave a couple of minutes then wipe of any excess, that's it.There's is a chemical smell that I didn't like and it was still hanging around after a week.I decided to give the coat outer a blast with a WARM not HOT hairdryer for about 5 minutes and too my suprise the smell has virtually gone.I also sprayed it with a hose to see how waterproof it is and the water just ran of it.Loads less hassle than rewaxing ,takes about 20 minutes and does the jobI didn't use the techwash to clean before hand just wiped it with cold waterCoat looks like new

Brand new coat in a fraction of the cost and effort..
I've had my Barbour Northumbria for 8+ years and I've had it re-waxed a couple of times by Barbour in the early years. In the past 3-4 years I've done it myself with their own brand wax that you have to keep molten and apply. It's quite an effort, especially when you've been doing it for an hour or more and you're down to your pants because it's so hot in the kitchen with the oven on and using a hairdryer to get the wax into those harder to service areas like the seams etc..Anyway, ordered this Nikwax stuff which Barbour now advertise and say it's ok to use. I've done two coats in around 40 mins (2 x 20 mins with an hour drying in between). My coat is like new. It's so easy to apply and the coverage is fantastic. As it's a literally spray it gets everywhere and into all those nooks and crannies. One bottle is more than enough to do two coats, I've got plenty left. I've saturated the coat on the second coverage and worked it in with a sponge. I've not had a chance to rain test it yet, but early signs are this is a fantastic product. There is a tiny whiff to it, but nothing that's off-putting. I tend to use white wine vinegar spray on the inside of the coat to freshen it up (as it'll sit unused for a few months) - this Nikwax adds to the service kit and will hopefully keep my coat going for many more years to come.Barbours aren't cheap initially, but mines been going strong for 8 years - if I have to rewax mid-winter, for £7-8 a bottle and 40 or so mins effort.. I'm really not going to complain.

Used on Barbour Wax jacket with great results
Recently we did the cardinal sin of washing a Barbour Wax Cotton jacket in the washing machine with detergent. I know, shocking! However, we had no choice. The jacket had been put away damp last year, and as a result had got mildew and mould spores on it. It absolutely stank of damp, and nothing we did could get rid of the smell. We rang the Barbour head office to see if their £60.00 cleaning service would sort it, and they said it wouldn’t. Basically, the jacket was ruined. Then, when looking on the Barbour website we noticed that they endorse Nikwax for their jackets?? Apparently, only for re-proofing rather than after you’ve washed all the original wax out through sticking it in a washing machine! Anyway, we thought what have we got to lose, after all if the worse comes to the worse it will be a nice jacket that is no longer waterproof Lol. So, my wife put it on a 40 degrees wash in our washing machine, with non bio washing tablets. She took it out and let it drip dry in the sun (took a couple of days to completely dry). Once dry, it smelled lovely, and all the mould marks had gone, although it was now plain green and had lost its waxed look. Now enter Nikwax…….I laid the Jacket flat and absolutely drenched it in Nikwax, rubbing it into the seems with a sponge. It was then hung out to dry, which took a couple of days. I then did the same process again. When the jacket was fully dry after the 2nd coat we could see that the jacket had some of its wax look back. To finish off, we then applied the real ‘Wax Jacket’ wax which now means the Jacket smells like a Wax Barbour Jacket, Looks like a Wax Barbour Jacket and is waterproof like it should be too. Superb! The good news, is we didn’t have to buy a new Barbour jacket, which made me wonder if this is why Barbour say they can’t be washed???

Good if not a little smelly
Excellent at water proofing material, however the smell of the spray can be over powering on material and lingers, would it hurt to add some fragrance to it to help with the smell

Keeps my jacket waterproof
I have been using this for years to keep my various cheap wax cotton jackets waterproof. In the winter I use my jacket every day to walk the dogs and, of course it gets rained on quite often, sometimes very hard. Come the spring I put it on a hanger, hang it on the washing line and spray the shoulders and arms then spread the spray with a cloth or a small sponge and leave it to dry for some hours. If I get a leak in the winter I spray just the effected area in a similar manner but then hang it up in the toilet to dry but this is rarely needed. It is probably not as good as using a tin of wax as the amount of waterproofer you put on will be less but it is much simpler, does not leave the jacket sticky and is quite adequate for light use.

My God! The smell!
It is incredibly easy to use and very effective in resealing my wax jacket. But the smell of Vinegar lasted for weeks and never really leaves the jacket.
