Reason for 4 stars instead of 5.........
Only one disappointment- length of battery power. Live in 3 story house and get very little area of carpet/ wood floor covered in one session. Pretty sure the pre-season purchase info was slightly misleading as to length of battery time - "up to 20 minutes" (clever wording!!) .Have not had 20 minutes of cleaning time with any combination of tools, power etc Otherwise very pleased.

It's a great cordless vacuum
I had thought about getting a Dyson for a while. You hear a lot about how great they are, but part of me just wondered if that's to do with the Dyson name more than anything. Maybe a cheaper cordless vacuum from another manufacturer would be just as good? Anyway, I tried this, but was left unsatisfied by vacuums that, well, didn't really vacuum, so in the end I decided to succumb to the hype and bought this model (not from Amazon though - I found it cheaper at Curry's)! I've had it for about six months now and I have to say it is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! I use it every day - mainly to clean up after the kids have had breakfast in the kitchen, and pick up all the bits of hair and dust that somehow manage to accumulate around the edges of my wooden floors. I have also used it on carpets and mats. I am really, seriously impressed with it. It does a great job. It cleans right up to the edge of the room and picks everything up. It has two settings - the 'lower' setting, which basically seems to be suitable for most things, and a 'higher' more powerful setting for anything that needs a bit more persuasion. The battery life is good. Probably about 20-30 minutes on the lower setting, and a bit less on the higher one (although I don't think I've ever done a full cycle on the high setting - the low one is strong enough for my needs). It sits neatly in its charging cradle and so is ready to go whenever I need it. The only downside is emptying the bits out of it. There are Dyson videos on youtube that show you someone simply clicking a button on the handheld bit to empty a load of dried rice into a bin, but in real life it's just not like that! My handheld bit is usually full of fluff, dust and hair and getting it out can be a bit of a job. I've tried sticking my fingers in it to pull everything out, but it can be a bit messy. I've also used a wooden skewer to fish around for the debris, but it's a bit like winding candy floss. Either way, it's not as clean/simple a procedure as Dyson might have you believe. But to be honest, I can live with it! Especially considering its superior cleaning power. It's also lightweight and easy to carry around the house and up and down stairs. I would most certainly buy a Dyson again, based on my experience with this model. I think I've become a convert!

Best Vacuum ever bought
I was going to buy a Vax Blade at first andI tried them in Currys and along came the Dyson lady. She sprinkled talc on the carpet, the Vax was good but still left a cloud of powder. The Dyson with one sweep up the middle left no powder behind it. No questions to ask the proof was right in front of me. So I bought one but after a bit of research I had to buy direct from Dyson because you get the accessory kit worth £56 for free, the Dyson lady could not offer the same and she could not blame us. Since receiving it, we have not stopped using it. The max 20min runtime is not an issue, you can do a lot in one run. The idea is because its cordless and wall mountable it becomes more accessible and you use it more and you use it on more things, cleaning blinds, stairs, or anything at height is easy, even for dusting. The hard floor cleaner is also great.
