Yes. That is how mine is installed.

What is the output voltage?

It's not 500 volts... all coils are a 12 to 20,000 volt step-up transformer. Some reach 90,000, but this would be the lower end of the spectrum for old cars (oem voltage). It's not dangerous, because the current diminishes exponentially the higher a transformer goes. It gives you an annoying jolt if it gets you.

Typical lightning can, good for stock replacement.

This coil works just fine for a stock or mild build. Just in case anyone has the same question that a lot of people ask, the Spectra Premium C-624 Ignition Coil does not need an external ballast resistor to function properly. I hooked up 12 V and ground, connected the wires from the distributor (electronic conversion) and it lit off the first time I cranked the starter over.
