Perfect for active travel
I love the light weight. You can put it in a rucsac pocket and forget about it.Personally, I'm mostly a day-hiker, and I treat this filter as an insurance policy - instead of taking LOTS of drinks "just in case", I can take 1 litre and if it turns out to be a longer sweatier day (or if the cafe's closed) this filter saves the day. Ditto for long bike rides in remote areas - now I don't have to take lots of bidons or a camelbak "just in case", I only need one or two bidons, plus this filter which slips easily into a toolbag or jersey pocket.I'm in the UK, where water is already low risk - this just gives peace-of-mind (and maybe filters out some harmless grit). If you were travelling somewhere with bigger risks, probably best to pack a secondary treatment, like water-purifying tablets.

Lightweight, efficient and handy as heck
Awesome piece of kit, ideal for bike packing or even just long days out on the bike/walking in the countryside. Simplicity to find a stream and fill your water bottle, pump is at first fast, then after a few uses slows to tolerable. Needs a truly aggressive shaking to clean as directed. Light, small, efficient piece of gear. Well recommended.

Good design for shallow water
This worked well for me in a shallow stream on a recent backpack. The squeeze pump has no moving parts and is hence probably more robust that a piston type device. My main gripe is that to pack and store the filter it has to be disassembled and re-assembly recommends using a silicone lubricant that only seems to be available in the Trailshot replacement cartridge kit. That lubricant should come with the device in the first place - so it loses a star from me. I am at a loss to understand why it is marketed as a "unisex" device. Maybe I am naive.

Best water filter I own
Best water filter I own. I use this above the sawyer mini and any life straws i used to bring on the trail. Its very light (thats a must with any filter i bring with me) and once you learn the best technique (slow pumps, let the filter fill back up each time) it performs brilliantly. Very quick flow compared to there filters.

Simple and reassuring when walking
I took it on the tracks in New Zealand. I didn't use it much but it was good and reassuring to have.It seemed to work as I am still alive. It is a bit fiddly to dry out after use.

Light, easy to use.
Filter size is 0.2um means it filters bacteria not viruses like hepatitis. To fully filter and remove viruses need the more expensive version with the 0.02um filter. Good, light and very handy, but you should purify the water with a tablet too.

Good bit of kit
Used it on a 3 night trip in the lakes, used in high flowing streams to gather water and didn’t cause any problems. Works well and compact and light
