Great Alternative for resin
This is great. I use it for air dry clay. It is a great alternative for resin if you do not want to use resin. It holds very well and is very shiny. It dries very quickly. It gets dry to the touch in about 30 min to an hour depending on how much you put on. My air dry clay pieces are holding up great. Its also very affordable and worth the price. Sometimes there are a few bubbles but that can be fixed by blowing it or by adding some heat.

Will leave streaks if you keep messing with it
Great clarity even with a brush. Dries quickly but not to quick. Ounce dried it's rock hard. Looks like glass . Since it's acyilic there's no smell. Works best with airbrush. Ounce you put on a coat dont touch it because it will leave streaks.

More of a satin varnish. Very mixed results.
This stuff is very thick right out of the bottle. You will definitely need to thin it a minimum of 1:1 with Vallejo airbrush thinner or Flow Improver to shoot it through an airbrush with a .3 mm needle and nozzle. I found the results to be very inconsistent spraying at the recommended 15-20 psi. It looks glossy when it goes on wet but dries to more of a satin finish. However if you put it on heavy it dries to a nice glossy shine but you risk beading and pooling. For the same price you can just get a bottle of Alclad Aqua Gloss which is water based and doesn’t need thinning and dries to a nice smooth and shiny glossy finish. Highly recommend getting Alclad Aqua Gloss over this.

Might as well use future floor polish
It's basically a thin, clear rubbery coating that will rub off with light finger friction, beads on slick surfaces, reacts with everything including water even after drying for 48 hours. I got my newest piece all done and the decal setting solution totally ate the clear coat and left big holes in the boating and alligator skin anywhere the setting solution sat. I'm not sure what model project this would be good for but I expect more from Vallejo..

Does NOT dry clear.
Does NOT dry clear no matter how many coats you apply. It goes on with and always dries with a dull haze.

Vallejo 28.517 is not a true gloss
First, I love Vallejo's paints, and I have a background in the coatings industry. However, this product is absolutely far below their usual standard. I have tried every dilution ratio from none to 4:1, with and without flow improver, at airbrush pressures from 15 to 25 psi. The only consistent result has been a lack of consistent results. With all combinations above, I never get the same result twice. I have taken great pains to make sure the coating is well mixed in its bottle, and the reduced (thinned) mixture is thoroughly mixed before it goes into the airbrush cup. One pass looks just fine, next one is either orange peal or coarser blebs on the surface. What's worse is that Vallejo's Product Guide says "… the final result is not a ‘polished glass shine’ but is more than satisfactory for a water-based varnish.” Essentially, it's a satin finish, not gloss. Considering that there are many other gloss coatings out there, this one is far less than satisfactory. Another odd thing: The Vallejo Satin and Matte varnishes work beautifully. The gloss needs a lot more work.

Great for clay models
Brought this for clay modelling and it works well. Leaves a shiny coat on my creations. I love this. Not thick and doesn't smell much. Covers very well. Very durable and consistent
