Useful grey scale value finder
If you draw and are looking to get your grey scale values more accurately mapped, this grey scale value finder is a simple, elegant and well considered tool that will help you find grey scales and enable you to transfer them to your drawing. You could also use it for determining values for pre-mixing paint for grisaille underpainting. It won’t do much else besides, but then you can look elsewhere on Amazon for things that can.

Good bit of kit
Useful bit of kit for sketching

Very useful to see fabric value but not very sturdy
I bought this to be able to view gray scale of fabrics. I have found it quite useful but the card itself is not very sturdy. I took it to a workshop recently and already one of the edge pieces is beginning to get quite flimsy. Would be better if it was on a thicker card background in my opinion

MADE MY OWN
MADE MY OWN. Bought one years ago for a low price, printed on card, very useful. Whilst this plastic version may be more durable, it's more expensive. I have a full set of Polychromos greys warm and cool so I made my own card in a few minutes 😊

Great item to understand better colour values when painting. A must for any student of art.

All round poor value
This is nothing more that a bit of printed card in a plastic sleeve so total cost to make maybe £0.15. It's far inferior to the one I lost which was made from sturdy clear plastic and the greyscale graduations made by half tone dots. The only advantage of this over the greyscale on a colour wheel is that it's bigger and a bit easier to use. I bought this only because I can't find the plastic one anywhere.

I like the dimensions of the holes, it's enough to gauge my value. It's a tad flimsy, but I keep it tucked in my sketchbook to prevent bending.
