The Enduring Champion of Webcams
For years, the Logitech C922 Pro Stream has been a go-to recommendation for anyone looking to upgrade their video quality, from budding streamers to remote professionals. In a market where new models are constantly emerging, does this veteran webcam still hold its ground? With its promise of high-definition streaming and a suite of pro-features, I decided to see if the C922 is still the undisputed king of its price bracket. Video Quality: Punching Above Its Weight The standout feature of the C922 has always been its surprising video quality. It delivers a crisp, clear picture that far surpasses any built-in laptop webcam. The ability to choose between smooth 1080p at 30fps for high-resolution calls or a hyperfast 720p at 60fps for fluid gaming streams gives it fantastic versatility. The HD light correction and autofocus work remarkably well, adjusting to different lighting conditions to keep you looking sharp and well-lit. For a webcam at this level, the image it produces is consistently impressive, making it look like a much more expensive piece of kit. Design and Stability Logitech has perfected the webcam mount design, and the C922 is a prime example. The built-in clip is robust and versatile, allowing it to sit securely on top of virtually any monitor or laptop screen without wobbling. Once you've positioned it, it stays put. This stability is crucial, as there's nothing more distracting than a shaky camera. The design is simple, effective, and built to last. The Perfect Entry Point for Quality Video One of the C922's most attractive features is its value. While its standard price is reasonable, it can often be found on offer, transforming it into an absolute bargain. At a discounted price point, its performance-to-cost ratio is almost unbeatable. This makes it the perfect starter webcam for anyone looking to get into streaming on platforms like Twitch or YouTube without a huge initial investment. Furthermore, its reliability and clear audio make it an ideal upgrade for anyone who wants to look more professional in online meetings on Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet. The Verdict The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam remains an exceptional choice and a testament to great design. Its video quality is genuinely surprising, its stability on a monitor is rock-solid, and its value proposition is outstanding, especially when you can find it on sale. Whether you're taking your first steps into the world of content creation or simply want to elevate your video conferencing game, the C922 is a reliable, high-performing, and brilliant investment. It’s a true workhorse that continues to earn its stellar reputation.

rather than yourself to get a better shot, and the more obvious reason
I’ve been using Logitech webcams for several years. There’s many benefits to using a separate webcam to the one that’s attached to your laptop or all in one. For one you can move it, rather than yourself to get a better shot, and the more obvious reason, the quality is much better. Upon starting blogging again I knew I needed to upgrade the camera I currently had if I wanted to do live broadcasts, or start doing some video reviews of things. In hindsight, when it comes to doing video reviews an actual camcorder or DLSR would be a better choice, but as those can cost into the hundreds if not thousands, for what I wanted it for, a new good quality webcam should do the job. I’ve also recently secured a new position at my place of work, so now that I’m generally stuck in a room with one other person, communicating with others around the business requires Skype for Business, there’s also the opportunity to work from home. So it seemed like I had all the excuses I needed to make yet another tech purchase. Happy with my Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 which was now getting on for about 10 years old and still throwing me out in glorious 720p HD over Skype it seemed a no brainer to stick with Logitech. I’m all for cheap tech if you can find the tool that does the job and doesn’t look like it’s going break down on you within a month, or is just something to dip your toes into that world before deciding on a better product, but for the content I ‘may’ want to throw out there it seemed like sticking with one of the best manufacturers out there was the best idea. The HD Pro Webcam C920 by Logitech has been the webcam of choice now for bloggers, skype & Twitch users for almost 5 years. Knocking reviews out of the park with it’s clear 1080p HD video and clear stereo audio. On many sites it is still to this day the recommended camera to buy, some 5 years after release. But, what’s this. Logitech gave it an upgrade in the past 12 months. The C922 Pro Stream webcam, with background replacement technology and even comes with a little desk tripod. Perfect for idiots like me! So did the best get better, or did Logitech take a backwards step? I guess in reality, I’m not qualified to answer that question, after all, I never owned the C920, so I can’t give a like for like comparison. What I can say however is, that for the price difference, it seems a no brainer to buy the newer tech, It’s about £15 more than the older version, so why on earth would you try and save £15 on tech that’s over 5 years old. On paper, and visually there’s not a lot of difference between them. The C922 does however offer 720p video at 60fps. The design is also very similar, so unlike other tech companies, it was good to see Logitech stick to the ‘if it isn’t broke, it doesn’t need fixing’ rule. Both come with tripod mounts, something many many webcams are missing in this digital age, and it’s a massive trick to be missing, so it’s no wonder Logitech come out trumps for so many users of Skype and Twitch. Also like the C920, both sides of the camera have forward facing microphones, which as far as communicating over the Internet goes, will serve you well. If you’re looking to do high quality tutorial videos however, you might want to look at adding an external microphone. Sound quality for me, will always trump the quality of the video. The USB lead comes in at a good length also, 6 foot, so even if you’re attaching this to a tower desktop system that’s sat on the floor, you shouldn’t need to go out and find yourself a USB extension lead, seems on the design front, Logitech have thought of everything. Video quality is fantastic, which I guess shouldn’t come as a surprise either knowing that the C920 has been out performing newer models for over 5 years, you’ll look super sharp to your buddies, so make sure you’ve popped your spots or applied your makeup first! 😉 So at this point you might be thinking, hold on, you told me to spend an extra £15 on this new bit of kit, but from the sounds of it, it’s not really that much different from the old model, save a lick of paint here and an updated logo there. Personally, I think the desk standing tripod alone, at least adds £5-£10 to the value of the newer package. What about the other £5. Well that comes with the software, and that’s really where users of Twitch for example have been catered for allowing you to replace or remove your background entirely, leaving just you as if you’re in front of a green screen. It’s all virtual, the software, provided by Personify, will aim to detect your head and shoulders and remove everything else around it. Or, if you prefer, you’re able to easily add in a replacement background instead. When it works. When I say when it works, it’s because it’s quite hit and miss, Ideally you still need a very blank background behind you, or it just get’s really confused. It also needs a bit of welly. Odds are if you’re using your PC for gaming anyway, you’ll have the processor the handle it. If you’re after a new webcam, and have around £100 budget for a new one, then I can’t recommend it enough

A good web camera - Needs to be set up carefully to get the best from it.
Generally this is a good web camera. I watched a lot of Youtube videos on how to get the best out of it and I recommend that purchasers who are new to this do the same. Getting the settings correct and using good lighting makes a huge difference. There is a bit of a confusion with the advertised specs.. At 1080p the image is crisp, but the camera will only supposedly at 30fps at that setting. At 720p 60fps supposedly can be used, but I find I can get 1080 with 50fps with the Logitech software and 1080 with 60fps with OBS. Good lighting is needed to use these settings. The results were tested with Media Info to make sure the resulting videos were not mis-reporting their spec. The autofocus tends to hunt a bit from time to time and so many people turn it off if they are simply recording themselves sitting in a desk chair. Software-wise the Logitech software is very good. It has a lot of settings, more that a lot of third party applications and these allow the camera to be tweaked sufficiently to get a really good image. The long list of third party camera applications I tried produced a much poorer images. The exception is OBS which produces a good image too. X-split video was good enough for streaming. The one down side of Logitech's software is the sound quality. One Youtube tester reported it as being 92 bit. Really quite poor and recording on OBS the improvement was marked. However in installing and uninstalling third party recording apps. I seem to have picked up a codec or two and now get 198kb/s at 48 Hz AAC - Good enough! (Measured in Media Area). The microphones compare very well with my high end Senheisser headset, quite a surprise. They do not give much background noise at all. The free tripod is not so good - mine went for recycling. However the camera to monitor mount is superb and it allows for some tilting too. Overall I am pleased with this camera and can recommend it. Logitech really need to do more with sound settings and codecs. Lastly quite a few Youtube reviewers go on about the Logitech software not remembering the last used settings. This seems to have been fixed.

For it’s price... I’m well impressed!
How can I actually do a video review, as I’m reviewing the camera I use to do my video reviews?!? 😂😂😂 I’m not going to give you all the high-tech specs, etc. All the specs are on the description so me telling you everything again would not really help. What I can say is that although I nearly bought the Amazon one, as my intention was to simply buy a camera to do video reviews with... I ended up buying this model which is better. Why? Because the price difference was so small and because a fellow customer recommended this one over the Amazon model on the questions and answers. At the moment I have only used it for video reviews, but in future I might use it for other things. The better image quality on this model versus the little difference in price makes it worth it! Right now, I am only using custom frame sizes and frames per second required for an Amazon video. In case it helps anyone, Amazon videos need to be 30 fps. It is recommended that the frame size is 480×270 . Maintaining and 16:9 ratio. If you would like to see any of the quality of the videos, you’re very welcome to check out any of my reviews on my Amazon profile. I haven’t uploaded one here, to avoid favouritism. All I can say is that this camera is super easy to use! Plug it into your computer and find a place to put it on. That simple! The Logitech software will download the first time you broke your camera Irene. From then on, when you need it, simply search Logitech from your search bar and start using. The software is so easy even a child could work it all out. Obviously this camera is good for streaming as well as recording. There is even an option where you can record whilst having a computer screen on. This is probably what I most like about this camera, that I have possibilities for future uses. Specially thanks to that little tripod that came with it and an extension cable of 3 m that I also purchased. At the moment it’s helping me to do my video reviews with the requirements needed without having to filter or modify anything through any other software. Saving me time and hassle 😊 But in future... I’m sure I’ll find it many other uses. Pros Extremely easy to use Pricetag Comes with mini desk tripod Good picture quality Straight forward, free and easy to use Logitech software Start using straight out of the box good focus What would I improve? I have noticed that if I use the zoom, the picture quality decreases enormously. Even if I only use a little zoom. I would also like the WebCam to come with some sort of “peg” to be able to attach it easier to places. I have added a picture for you to see how right now it’s on a picture frame, just above my desk. I’m still 🤞🏼hoping it’s not going to fall, as the above the screen mechanism it has is too wide for my surface screen and is not good for me to do my video reviews anyway. Cons None This is a great piece of kit for its price. Would I buy again? I would, but I hope I don’t have to! (Stay put on the frame pls) Would I recommend? Yes! Years ago, I used to do video reviews with my DSLR. Although the video quality was a lot better, when it focused correctly (let’s not forget my Nikon camera was made for photographs not videos). I had to prepare camera and tripod, record, remove the memory card, remove the little memory card from inside the card’s larger adapter of the camera, introduce the memory card in my laptop, copy the file onto my laptop, pass the file through a software to adjust the permitted parameters and then use the file... 😩😫😖 Yes, you can imagine... Now, I open the software, record and upload the file on amazon and social media. Done! 😁🥳🥳🥳 It has made my life easier and it hasn’t broken my pocket!

Check You Got the Correct Model - Mine Was a C920 in a C922 Box
I bought this camera on Amazon Prime Day. I had little time to carry out pre-purchase research, but YouTube had several videos comparing the C922, with the previous cheaper model the C920. The general consensus was that there is not a lot of difference, except the provision of a 720p 60Hz mode and the blue lights on the C920 have been replaced with white ones on the C922. When I received the camera all the packaging and paperwork confirmed that a C922 had been delivered. I installed the camera on my Windows 7 PC, although the process took a very long time to download and update the drivers. I found it impossible to get any webcam software from Logitech - nothing they offered would work on Windows 7. I think this is very poor customer support from Logitech. In order to test the webcam I had to open the Zoom app and adjust the camera settings. When I did this I was surprised to see that the lights on the new webcam were blue indicating that it was not a C922 but a C920. When I opened Device Manager it confirmed that the camera was a C920e, as did the Zoom setup page. The wrong model of camera had been packed in the C922 box. The serial number on the box and the serial number printed on the USB lead tag were the same as each other so this was a deep rooted mistake. I alerted Amazon to this error and they immediately sent a replacement. The installation process of the replacement camera under Windows 7 was still slow, but when I checked Device Manager and the Zoom App a C922 was detected - the lights were also white as expected on a C922 - so the replacement was the correct model. I would suggest that other purchasers of this camera check that they have received the right one and get in contact with Amazon if there is a mistake. I eventually got some “Logi” software from a random source on the Internet, but I did not want to do this for obvious security reasons and Logitech are behaving very badly not supporting older operating systems. Using this app the camera has a lot of settings and produces good pictures, especially, bearing in mind the 12 year age of my PC.

Don't trust auto focus
If the focus on this was half decent, I'd probably give it 5 stars ... But it's not. Let's get the moaning out of the way first Autofocus It does autofocus, continuously, all the time. It's focus distance is ultra close so unless you are planning on being less than 60cm from the camera, it's terrible. What's the point in an ultrawide lens if you can't see anything! Ok it's not that bad but it can't focus properly beyond just under a metre... which is where I sit. Quality is good overall however, I don't get any crashes during use and the mount is solid. I don't use the built in mic, which I tried but it's awful. Just like autofocus you have to be close to it and even then you sound a long way away. It's very expensive for what it is in my view BUT having seen the results of cheaper cameras which constantly crash even though their quality is high, I'm glad I paid extra. The cables a decent length too and not a piddly metre barely reaching the mount point. If you want a camera that works, this will do. If you want a higher quality picture and focus, this might not be the right camera.
