while its own retainer has a much better fit against pulling off
Well designed charger for two batteries. The charging time for my pair of genuine Makita 4Ah is 40 minutes and for 5Ah is 45 minutes. The charger is fitted with a standard 3 pin British plug with a 10A fuse. The complete charger weighes 2.25 kg.Simple to use, and the lights tells you the condition of the battery/charger and end of full the charge. In the product information for the Makita DC18RD its physical dimensions given are 10.2 x 40.6 x 30.5 cm which are wrong.I measured mine and found its dimensions are 10.2 x 34.0 x 20.0 cm. It is important for me to ensure it goes in my stackable box.Another minor point is that the rubber dust cover for the USB is very loose fit - to keep it in place, I have to tape it.The retaining rubber projection is .070 inch thick going into a .075 inch slot, while its own retainer has a much better fit against pulling off !

Worth it for builders- not gonna use the phone charger though.
I got this for my Dad as a useful birthday present he'd actually use but not buy himself. He's a builder and uses makita tools daily. He hasn't stopped raving about this since he got it- it apparently charges the batteries really quickly & he likes that you can put a different 'jingle' to each battery. If you use multiple tools all day it's perfect! And the handy iPhone charger is clever.. Although not ideal when on a building site with dust- wouldn't want to leave his iPhone on the floor beside the charger. Good for emergency use though. Maybe if you could somehow dock the phone to keep it safe- under a cover perhaps? It isn't too heavy either which is a bonus.

Great charger, great melodies
The charger feels well made and has a nice weight to it. It's also handy to have a USB port on the front. The one thing I struggled with was figuring out how to get the charger to play different melodies upon charging. in case your wondering, here's how to do it.. simply insert a battery, and then within 5 seconds take it out and reinset it. You can choose between silent mode, beep, and a selection of classical favourites.. Happy charging!

It works
Charges the batteries (supplied separately) quickly.Lack of documentation: instructions in the form of very small diagrams are printed on the device but are somewhat ambiguous so only four stars from me…

Great even for the DIYer
This is a must have even as a keen diyer! Often found that I would end up waiting for a battery to charge but with this you can use one and get two on charge ready to go and keep going. I didn't think I would ever need this as would think it's more of a professional need but it really did help me when doing large projects. Great investment

Great twin charger
This Makita twin charger is very well built and dose the job as you would expect. It's a heavy bit of kit.Charger pulls about 500w charging two battery's, I charge from solar so it's free. It's fan cooled. All round a great charger.
