I am helping grandchildren prepare for English GCSE. I find this book gives me the accurate information I need to support them. Its companion, the exam practice workbook, has useful exam style questions to try. ( With example answers!). QR codes take you to additional videos that clearly explain every question type.

Ma la vera magia nera si sblocca quando gratti il codice segreto sulla copertina per accedere al portale online RevisionHub. Ti ritrovi tra le mani un arsenale digitale clamoroso fatto di video che ti spiegano le tecniche per affrontare i quesiti, quiz riassuntivi e, cosa più preziosa in assoluto, esempi di risposte d'esame già valutate e commentate per farti capire esattamente cosa vogliono leggere i professori per darti il massimo dei voti. Aspetti da considerare Trattandosi di un testo mirato alla preparazione chirurgica del GCSE AQA, devi essere consapevole che il livello di partenza richiesto è alto. Parliamo di un manuale scritto da madrelingua per studenti inseriti nel sistema scolastico britannico, quindi scordati le regolette di grammatica base, i verbi irregolari o i glossari con la traduzione a fronte. Devi approcciarti a questo strumento avendo già un'ottima comprensione dell'inglese scritto, altrimenti finirai per passare i tuoi pomeriggi con la testa immersa nel dizionario a tradurre le consegne degli esercizi, perdendo completamente il focus sullo sviluppo dello stile narrativo. Prendi una traccia d'esame dal libro, imposti un timer sul telefono e provi a buttare giù la tua analisi del testo. Quando scade il tempo ti ritrovi col solito dubbio atroce: avrò scritto un capolavoro o una schifezza fuori tema? A quel punto apri il portale online dal tablet, fai partire i video degli esperti che smontano esattamente quella traccia e confronti il tuo foglio con gli esempi di risposte valutate. In un istante capisci dove hai sprecato punti preziosi, correggi il tiro e affronti la simulazione successiva con una sicurezza che prima ti sognavi. Conclusione e consiglio Lo raccomando a occhi chiusi agli studenti delle scuole internazionali o a chi prepara da privatista le specifiche certificazioni allineate al programma britannico, perché è uno strumento di ripasso di una potenza devastante. Diventa un acquisto completamente fuori bersaglio se stai cercando un libro generico per migliorare il tuo inglese discorsivo, o se devi affrontare i classici test Cambridge come il First o l'IELTS che si basano su logiche, formati e metriche di valutazione radicalmente diverse. La dritta in più Non fare l'errore di aspettare di aver finito di studiare tutta la teoria prima di buttarti sulle simulazioni d'esame complete fornite alla fine del libro. Affrontane almeno una completamente a "freddo" il primissimo giorno di ripasso, senza sbirciare appunti o soluzioni. Usa quel risultato quasi certamente disastroso come bussola diagnostica: ti farà capire all'istante su quali specifiche abilità di comprensione o produzione sei più carente, permettendoti di sfruttare i test mirati del portale digitale solo per curare i tuoi veri punti deboli.
