This is a really cool device. After numerous convoluted methods to be able to remote connect/control a headless server in high resolution, this device is such a simple solution method. With this just plugged in, I am able to remote connect to the headless server in high resolution mode, and working with many vnc servers (x11vnc, tightvnc, tigervnc, realvnc, etc). And if there is a need to plug a monitor back in, all I have to do is to swap the connection.

These work perfectly. With one of these plugged in, my Mac thinks it has a monitor attached and will present options through a remote NX session to change the resolution to match the physical machine I'm using to remotely access the Mac. It also substantially improves the performance of the remote session since this triggers the Mac to utilize it's GPU.

I’m a wanna be programmer and have four Mac minis connected to an iMac and changing cables is a real nuisance and slows me down. This product gives me a good 27 inch picture on my iMac for everyone of the minis that I have which is a great timesaver.

I'm setting up a headless Linux music and file server using Ubuntu 22.04.02. At first, I just swapped out the real monitor with this one and the machine would not boot. I did the usual "apt get update" and "apt get upgrade" but it still wouldn't be recognized. The way I fixed it is by adding this to the HDMI-2 port, then adding my real monitor to the HDMI-1 port and booting normally. Then I used Settings > display > Mirror to replicate the real monitor. After unplugging the real and rebooting, it now works as intended. Enjoy!

Had a system setup in a closet used for transcoding video's and converting. Hated using team viewer cause the video would always be low res after removing a monitor. Yes you can change the resolution, but handbrake didn't render properly for me it became a issue when I didn't have a monitor connected. Have a 1050ti 4GB and popped this in. No more issues. Works awesome. TeamViewer or even streaming using steam or nvidia works great.

I bought this b/c I needed a way to connect with VNC to another desktop in my house with no monitor. This makes it super easy to do!

Worked great for TightVNC to remote view a headless PC/Laptop. Didn't work for simulating a second screen to cast your desktop as an extended display.

If you run headless servers and use remote access, these adapters ensure that you always get the resolution you desire. They look like an HDMI monitor is attached to the computer video, and you can treat them like you would a monitor for resolution setup purposes.
