A friend who works in the snow removal industry (plows, shovels, de-icing for commercial properties) recommended this product to me as it was the closest I could get without a commercial contract where this type of product is delivered by the truckfull. I am familiar with rock salt and the use of kitty litter, both of which have negative effects on areas surrounding sidewalks (plants, grass, etc.) This product says it does not harm surrounding vegetation and it doesn't. It performs better than rock salt and actually melts ice rather than act an aggregate like kitty litter. Even better, once down and the ice is gone, it somewhat "protects" the sidewalk if more snow, sleet or ice follows. The other thing thing that is great is the lack of corrosion on metals. I shovel the sidewalk of a neighbor who is in a wheelchair and has a long aluminum ramp. This product keeps the ice off of the ramp and does not corrode the aluminum. It also does not affect my wrought iron railings. The amount used is not great. I would suspect that it is less than rock salt or kitty litter, so the application per weather event is less, which makes a difference when comparing costs between de-icing methods. All in all, this is a really good product, even though you kind of hope you never need to use it. Who wants to deal with ice or sleet on driveways, ramps, sidewalks and steps? But if you have to deal with it, this is a winner of a product.

2nd time buying — green salt, it works great. It’s probably a little more money than other brands, but I know it works, it’s pins per safe, and as much as I’d like it to last longer, a lot does depend on how much snow and ice we get. But it does last a long time once it’s spread on the sidewalk and driveway, and it starts working immediately, so for me, it’s worth the price. I’d rather spend a little more as I know my chances of slipping/sliding/falling are lessened.

Gave the product 5 stars: excellent ice melt for me. Works very good. The only problem was not related to this seller.. JUST AMAZON'S DELIVERY PERSONEL!!! Only the delivery was not up to par....AMAZON needs to get their people to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!!! This was delivered to an elderly woman (82yo)... The delivery instructions were for the package to be placed inside the screen door on the screened in porch because she cannot lift the 40-pound bag.... Instead, it was placed on the steps blocking the screen door. Thank God someone stopped by that was able to move the Ice melt for her.

The Snow Joe Eco Melt Premium Pet-Safe Ice Melt really does a great job on icy sidewalks and driveways. It works quickly even in colder temps (down to -25 °F) and I appreciate that it’s pet-safe, concrete-safe, and low-tracking — so there’s less mess and I don’t worry about my pups’ paws. I also like that the added liquid heat helps it start working fast, which is noticeable compared to traditional rock salt. The reasons I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 are that it’s a bit pricier than basic ice melt and the granules can clump a little if stored in a damp garage. Still, in terms of performance and peace of mind for pets and surfaces, it’s definitely worth it. Would recommend for anyone who wants strong ice melt that’s safer than regular salt!

Works really well, but definitely on the pricey side. There are other products that do the same for 1/2-1/3 the cost of this. The green coloration makes it very easy to know where you’ve applied it making it an easy to use product. It doesn’t seem to impact grass, concrete or pavement.

This Snow Ice Melt worked exceptionally well. Placed a thin layer prior to a three foot heavy snow storm. Once the.area was cleared of snow, the ice melt continued to work and prevented ice from forming. I was very pleased with this project and plan to purchase it again.

Great stuff. Works quickly and green color easy to see and apply. Safe for my dog.

Decent product. Needs to be applied generously. We had a light ice storm. I had spread my back steps and walkway with this ice melt for preventive measures, but it seemed to work best throwing it down after ice/snow accumulated. Ice melted rapidly. My senior dog was able to go in and out without my worries of him slipping or burning his paws on the salt. It left behind a slight residue, which is to be expected and is easily cleaned with a damp broom.

This ice melter acts very quickly! After two days of freezing rain, the path was covered in a two-inch sheet of ice that formed on top of the snow. I scattered the crystals along the path and the ice started to crack as the ice melter worked its magic! Very pleased with this product. Most important feature, it is environmentally friendly and not harmful to pets and wild life such as squirrels and birds that visit the area.

Really works well. Melts snow as said.

I use it for additional extra weight in the back of my rwd cargo van. And it is better to have than sandbags. It’s a useful tool to help me get out of a bad situation in the snow or ice. It saved me from being stuck in the snow. I just put a liberal amount on front and behind the rear tires and waited 5-10 minutes and it worked like a charm.
