Did what it was designed for. I suspected a blown head gasket and need to confirm this. It indicate a leak in a few minutes. I had the other leak tester and always got inconclusively results. This system is way better less chance of contaminating the fluid and a far better color change.

use this if your over flow tank stays pressurised for hours after shutdown. Or if you notice visible exhaust gas that may be lingering to long.. If your car starts to overheat - get this before replacing expensive parts.

Well, I ran the test and it confirmed what I pretty much already knew. My head gasket is leaking. I'm still glad I did the test before taking the car in for repair. I just wanted to confirm it so I'm certain I really do have a leak before shelling out big bucks to a shop. The test was really clear and left no doubt- the color change was obvious and it happened in about 2 minutes of running.

I wouldn't use the liquid in this. I tested a car, and the liquid stayed blue. Therfore I proceeded to change the radiator fans( they weren't working) and radiator (already there might as well). The problem persisted. So I took apart the whole cooling system making sure there was no blockage. There was nothing wrong with the water flow. I tested again using a different fluid and I got a change in color. The orginal fluid this comes with isn't reliable. I spent time and money on a false negative. The mechanism works, however it cost me.
