PhonakMC1 External Lapel Microphone for Com Pilot

I am in the process of returning the item, at my expense, to the seller who is located in Hawaii. I don't feel the description shown on the Amazon website was complete in describing the capabilities of the microphone. I contacted customer support and the person I had conversations was extremely helpful, first when the delivery was made later than initially indicated, which seemed to be the fault of USPS, and not the company, and the following time when I contacted him because I could not get the device to work as I thought it would. I have no doubts the product works as designed, but unfortunately, I have limited times I want to use the device just for phone calls.......I wanted it for general usage. My rating reflects what I believe the quality of the device, and the excellent customer contact I had with the company. I do believe the writeup on the Amazon website should be made more complete, and thus my three-star rating.The following is the description the Customer Service person gave me that really indicates how the device could be used. It would seem that this sort of information should have been in the description:"I do want to make sure that you know that the Lapel Mic will only activate when you are on a cell phone call or using voice prompts with a paired cell phone or bluetooth device (such as when using Siri, for example). It is not active at any other time."

After putting on the hearing aid, I still can't clearly hear the conversation of the person next to me. This microphone helped me solve the problem.Especially where there are echoes indoors. The microphone is connected to Phonak ComPilot II, and it is important to see the orange light on Phonak ComPilot II really working. Once the yellow light comes on, the sound works very well (for me, it doesn't have to be that way for others).The orange light doesn't turn on, which means there's no good link (and that's how I feel)The only thing I'm not happy with this microphone is that the plug isn't very tacit lying to Phonak ComPilot II, and a lot of the time, when the plug is plugged in, the orange light doesn't turn on and you need to pull it out a little bit. I don't know what caused it.I want the producers to work with me to solve this problem.

This device makes receiving and sending calls through my hearing aids and Com Pilot better than just using my phone. I gave up using just the Com Pilot because people complained that they could not hear me. With this unit, I have not had a single complaint and my Com Pilot is now truly functional! I love it.The description indicates that you can clip it to your lapel, but I clip the microphone to my t-shirt, under my outer shirt and it still works really well. It is then invisible and people don't realize that I have a mike until I push the Com Pilot button to answer a call - then they want to know about it.It also works well when I dictate a text message or into my note pad. And if I want to dictate to my computer, I simply connect the bluetooth Com Pilot to my computer. Works with my iPad as well.I just wish I had purchased this unit when I bought my hearing aids.

It does work better for phone calls than the ComPilot by itself - it doesn't pick up as much background noise, noise from clothing, etc. However, I bought my first one in April 2018, and it suddenly quit working - callers could not hear me. I couldn't find any damage or reason for it not to work, so I thought maybe I just got a "bad" one, since it lasted such a short time. I ordered another in September. Now, January 2019, that one has also quit working. I am not hard on things, and they don't appear to be broken, just useless. So, I am buying another because I really do use it often. But I will also be buying a cheaper 3.5mm microphone to see if it will work. If a generic mic will work, I will be big bucks ahead even if it doesn't last long, since they are so much cheaper. Who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky and pay less AND have something that I can use for more than 4-5 months. I love the product, but I don't love that I have to replace it so often.

This is my 3rd one of these. They work great, but the first two had too long of cord, so I had a problem with getting them snagged while working, damaging the cords. This last one had a shorter cord and I am more comfortable with it now.

I would really like to rate this product higher. Cause when it works it works well. My only problem with it is. How lite in construction it is made. I have had to buy several of these microphones due to the fact of the smallest of tugs on them breaks them. Now you would think. Be more careful with it. Believe me I tried. But due to the fact that I have gotten so depended on this system for my hands free at work. That I buy two of these at a time cause you do know if a week or a months it will go out on you. When I use it, it is hinden all the time. The cord can be bigger and stronger. Or a model of it can be. So it would last longer. Would be nice. This is only my opinion and my rating. Thank you

I clip the mic to the neck cord for my Phonak bluetooth streamer. Works great in the semi while I'm driving. Everything gets streamed into my hearing aids. Itr's a fine wire though, so you have to be careful that you don't snag it with anything. Ive had to replace it several times for that very reason. For that reason I keep it all underneath my shirt.

I recently started wearing hearing aids. This creates a problem with the cell phone. If I listen through my ear, I cannot take advantage of the hearing aid. If I listen through the hearing aid mikes, only the amplified sounds come through. The hearing aid professional programmed the hearing aids to provide full sound when listening through the blue tooth pendant. However, every little movement made a scratching sound as the pendant rubbed against my clothing. The Phonak mic solved this problem, plus it is very tinny - is easy to hide, and is has high sound quality. I am very happy with it.
