Great razor
This thing is great. These are really the only type of razor that doesn't give me razor bumps. You can really tell by these reviews who doesn't know how to use a shavette. And yes, this is a straight razor but technically they are called shavettes because you can replace the blade. Same concept and similar experience, minus the maintenance and actual straight razor requires. Overall this is a great shavette for the price, and the amount of blades you get. I use it daily, it is comfortable in the hand and the blades are smooth and sharp. They also fit snug into the handle, so if yours is falling out like I saw in some reviews then it is likely defective because mine are tight in there. It is great for maintaining my beard, can keep myself lined up all week with this while shaving my neck and upper cheeks, much better than I could with a regular cartridge razor.

Utopia Care Shavette
Here's a rewritten review with a more human touch:"I'm not exactly the review type, but Utopia's shaver has genuinely blown me away. First use and I knew I was in for a treat - this thing is a beast! It's got some serious power, but somehow it's still super gentle on my skin. I got a ridiculously close shave without any irritation, even in the sensitive spots where I usually curse my existence. The design is sleek, feels great in my hand, and the battery life is nuts. I've used it a bunch of times without needing to recharge, which is perfect for my busy mornings. Cleaning's a breeze too, which is a major win in my book. It's clear Utopia didn't phone it in - this shaver's got quality written all over it. If you're in the market for a reliable, high-quality shaver that doesn't break the bank, look no further. I'm a total fan now!"

These are a steal!
I got this razor to replace my regular hair cutting razor with a serrated edge of sorts. It’s the type of hair razor I’ve used, it’s the kind my stylist uses, and it’s the typical type of razor you find when you look up a hair cutting razor. Except my issue is, whether I’m cutting my hair or my stylist is, I feel like it’s never giving a good clean cut. Doesn’t matter if I change the blade after every use, it just feels like I’m giving myself split ends. So here’s when the straight razor comes in.I liked how cheap it is to replace the blades, and I liked how it’s just a regular razor so I felt like it’d give a cleaner cut. Spoiler, it did! I absolutely love this thing for cutting hair! I got this razor and 100 blades for $7.99, that’s an absolutely incredible price for this. The handle itself is solid metal and it feels very heavy and substantial in your hand. It’s easy to control and it’s very easy to change the blade, you just slide it in. It’s not a regular razor blade, it’s the same kind of blade you use with a safety razor, except this one only has one edge not two. It’s super sharp and it’s just glides through your hair. It’s absolutely perfect, you literally cannot go wrong with this!

Not great for a full facial shave, but it will get the job done
For point of refence, I have a very thick, course, dark haired beard. This shavette is a very cheap alternative to buying disposable razors. It will get you about the same shave as the bag of disposables that you buy at walmart, but this is much cheaper. The build of the razor is sturdy and as utilitarian as you can get, no frills on this one. The design is very easy to use and can be used with single edge razors, or a double edged razor that has been broken in half.If you are looking for a shave that is super close, and baby butt smooth, for your partner, you might want to continue to shop around a little bit. It can be achieved with this shavette, but takes me roughly 30 minutes, I'm sure it will get faster the more I use it though. If you are looking for a cheap way to shave to stay presentable, and feel good about yourself for getting closer to how men used to do things, this is it. The derby blades that came with it are alright, but I would suggest getting some different blades because they did not stay that sharp for me (could have just been my beard.) After going down to walmart, I bought a set of 10 wilkerson sword double edge razor blades (actually 20 blades for a shavette) for $1.76 plus tax. These razor blades seemed to do marginally better than the derby blades. I have yet to look, but Target is supposed to have a good choice of razor blades to choose from as well. While learning to use this, you will cut yourself...a lot...Be sure that you buy a styptic pencil, again I bought this at walmart for $0.98 plus tax. Really I would suggest going to buy one of these regardless of if you get this or another shavette, because it makes you stop bleeding from small cuts as soon as you wet it and dab it against your face.Insterting the blade is very simple. All you have to do it pull up on the hinged piece of metal at the top and it releases the two pieces that wedge the blade in place. This is a very sturdy mechanism that I do not expect to wear out any time soon. All of the hinges and parts that hold the shavette together seem to be well made, and ready for many years of use.I would not use this with a regular canned shaving cream or gel, but if nothing else, walmart sells a vander hagen (sp?) set for $10.00 that gives you a decent brush, soap and bowl to mix it in, I would suggest getting a nice shave soap or cream though as this can make a worlds difference. I enjoy using the C.O. bigelow shave cream which is a rebranded cream made by proraso for bath and body works (it can be bought there as well.)For the price, it is multitudes cheaper than disposable or cartrige razors, using the wilkerson sword blades mentioned above, I can get 3-4 shaves per blade coming to 1-2 cents per shave.

Clean, Sharp, and Feels Pro
This straight razor is easy to handle and gives you that clean, crisp barbershop feel right at home. Loading blades is simple, and it feels solid in hand. If you've used a straight razor before, you'll appreciate the control. If you're new to it—go slow. One wrong move and you'll learn the hard way. Great for lining up and detail work once you get the hang of it.
