Tech 21 MIDI Mongoose

Needed to replace a channel changer (Midibuddy) that stopped working. This Worked right out of the box. No programming, just plug and play. A little small, but works great.

I needed to send CC info to better control my Fractal Audio FM3. This unit will only send patch change data which will change Presets but won't allow setup for changing Scenes or other elements.

Sturdy, and works as advertised. It seems to drain a 9v battery surprisingly quickly, but I don’t have a good baseline for that. There’s a press-and-hold procedure to turn it off that I often forget because it turns off lights automatically to save power. It’s possible the batteries would last longer if it just kept its lights on so I would remember to turn it off when I’m done.

I replaced a MIDI Mouse with this MIDI Mongoose. TECH 21 makes good quality stuff here in the USA and the MIDI Mouse is no exception but I found that I was constantly hitting the wrong buttons because of the layout of that particular pedal. The MIDI Mongoose, on the other hand, has this nice straight across layout which gives me five patches at my immediate disposal yet with a very compact footprint. I no longer have to select my patch change and scroll through in the middle of a performance - I can simply stomp on buttons 1 through 5 and I'm there instantly. I'm very happy that I've finally been able to find an American made product with simple functionality that doesn't take up a whole lot of room on the stage.

I needed this for Program changing my TC DSP and it works great!

Unit stopped sending PC messages to effects unit the next day of use. Visually it looks fine but doesn't change presets at all.Update!Power adapter wasn't functioning well, swapped it and it works just fine!The only con for this unit is it's tiny size and my huge feet, otherwise, it's awesome.

Cannot use for applications based on keyboard midi format. SoleMan is way better and just a little more.
