What should we check before purchasing the switchbot lock

Make sure your deadbolt slides easily when you lock it. There can't be any resistance or you will get an error. This means you can't have to push on the door when you latch it due to shifting of the home. If you do, this isn't going to work for you.

Will it turn a deadbolt that is hard to turn?

Probably not. My lock is a little hard to turn. I could manually open it with the switchbot adaptor but it would jam doing it remotely. Had to return it.

Can it be open with just key or will the system stop someone from opening it and will only open when system unlocks it?

System will not stop someone with a key opening the lock from the outside. You can absolutely open the lock with an existing key, along with any of the new method to open it (keycard, fingerprint, Apple watch, app, PIN code etc)

Can I still use my key to lock and unlock the door once this is installed?

Yes you can! this only goes over the deadbolt on the inside, the outside of your door looks exactly the same as it did before you installed the smart lock!
