Seemed Like a Great Alternative… Until It Wasn’t
I bought this cable because, like many others, I wanted to ditch the proprietary wall plug and use a standard USB charger instead. On paper, it should’ve worked perfectly. The device it’s meant for charges at 5V 1A, and my charger is more than capable of delivering that. But in practice? It falls short. Really short. First issue: Inconsistent charging Plugging it into my high-quality Anker charger resulted in a painfully slow charge at just 5V 0.4A instead of the expected 1A. I left it plugged in overnight—about 8 to 9 hours—expecting to wake up to a fully charged razor. It wasn’t. For context, a full charge from a dead battery should take only 2 hours, yet after nearly quadruple that time, it was still charging. The moment I switched back to the original charger, it finished in minutes, proving this cable wasn’t just slow—it was actively underpowering the device the entire time. Second issue: Fitment While the connector fits in both directions, it only charges when inserted the “right” way—which isn’t something you should have to guess. Even worse, the connection is loose, meaning any small movement could disrupt charging or stop it altogether. A cable meant to replace a proprietary charger shouldn’t be this unreliable. Third issue: The “reverse polarity” warning The plastic bag this came in actually has a label telling you to reverse the connector if it doesn’t charge. That right there tells you the manufacturer knew this wasn’t designed properly. If a cable fits both ways, it should work both ways—or be designed to only fit one way to avoid confusion. You shouldn’t have to troubleshoot a charging cable. At the end of the day, I bought this to avoid the proprietary charger, but it turns out I still need it because this cable doesn’t do the job properly. If you’re looking for a true replacement, this isn’t it. Save your money.
