Parakeets For Dummies

This seems to be quite a comprehensive book about caring for parakeets.

Crystal-clear writing, a wealth of information, and a likably no-nonsense attitude make this an excellent guide book for beginners (like me). The only thing missing is more detail on which other species of birds budgies are compatible with, and which houseplans are / are not OK for them. But still, the quality and quantity of facts are both excellent and the presentation is navigable, easy to digest, and enjoyable. She definitely knows what she's talking about.

本書は米国の著書で，インコの中でも最もポピュラーなセキセイインコの飼育法が解説されている。小桜インコをはじめとするラブバードは明らかに解説の対象外である。また，セキセイインコよりも大型のオカメインコやサザナミインコが解説の対象となっているかどうかは，本文からは（というか評者の英語力からは）判然としない。 たった90頁の薄っぺらい本だが，よいペットショップの鑑別方法，ケージの選び方やセッティング，緊急時の応急処置に多くの紙幅を割いている。特に，ケージの設置方法の記述は，まるで人間様のマイホームの購入手引きかと思うほど入念だ。また，応急手当では，洗剤を飲んでしまったり意識不明になったりしたときのファーストエイドが詳述されている。これは，わが国の獣医療だったら手遅れであると片付けられてしまうケースだろう。 とにかく，少しでもインコに変化に気づいたら，「すぐに獣医師に診てもらいましょう」と書かれている。ヒトだって気軽に医師に診てもらえない米国で，インコごときがそんなに簡単に獣医療を享受できるのかという素朴な疑問がわいてきた。 全体を通してとてもユーモアに富んだ文章で，著者自身のインコに対する愛情がひしひしと伝わってくる。ただ，本文にカラー写真が1枚もないのをなんとかしていただきたい。 ＜文献＞ 磯崎哲也 (2002) インコ・ブンチョウ手のりの小鳥楽しみ方BOOK, 成美堂出版

Easy to read, good for my 10 year old to learn about parakeets.

This book has been so helpful to me as I am preparing to get two young budgies. It's written in an easy to read way and I found the icons helpful to show what is important to note and remember. I am hoping this will make me a better budgie carer.
