Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer

Fantastic blow dryer. Maybe little expense but I can blower dry/style my hair within about 6 minutes. This blower will not permanently dry out your hair. I always receive compliments on my hair.

Original Review: I have had this hair dryer for about six months and it has started to make a high pitched noise and shuts off. This is extremely disappointing for such a hyped up dryer. I have my old 7 year old dryer I will have to go back to. I have never dropped this dryer and keep it on a stand in my bathroom. I will see if the manufacturer can help. Edit: Well, whatever mechanical issues the hair dryer had are now gone! I don’t know if something had jostled lose inside or if it was just a bad bearing, but one day it just started working again without notice. No complaints here! It’s a very nice hairdryer, and I like the different hair attachments. They snap on magnetically and are designed for different hair types. I use the curly hair attachment and my daughter uses the straightener attachment to help straighten her curly hair.

Bought this for my wife a little over a year ago because she burns out hair dryers within 1-2 years. I figured I'd spend the money to get her what seems like a hair dryer that will last. So far so good and she loves it. She says it dries her hair quicker than the others she's owned. I'll edit my review if the durability/reliability isn't what it should be. Especially considering these hair dryers aren't cheap.

I've never had a blow dryer quit on me. This one did in a year and a half. The tag that is adhered to the dryer came off with use....it had the serial number on it. Dyson, even with proof of purchase, refused to help me with the item. The mechanized and robotic responses from customer service are insulting. Dyson service center rep. said it is unfixable even if I pay. I would not recommend this dryer. My $100 dryer has outlasted this by years and is better on my hair. There is a reason they sell extended warranties. A scam of a hair dryer.

Dyson products have never disappointed me yet. They are very pricey yes. And whether it is worth the premium over competing products is very different from one person to the next. Their hair dryer has the strongest motor for this type of form factor hair dryer that I have used. Other “fan-less” dryers severely lack this aspect and often have poor air flow/ pressure. The attachments are quality and the sound is much quieter than alternatives! Dries my hair much faster and has a button that blows cold air in an instant!

I was nervous to buy this hairdryer because of its high cost, but after using it for a couple months I have pros and cons of this hairdryer (mostly pros). This hairdryer is great! Compared to other hairdryers, the sound is smoother and not annoying. The hairdryer has some weight to it showing it is made of a great durable material. The hairdryer dries hair at a decent rate on normal mode. I like how you can change the airflow level and the temperature level and that there is a cool button. I have very thick long hair. Drying it on the lowest setting or the coolest setting has me drying my hair for like 15 minutes or more to have it somewhat dry. It is better to alternate between modes. There is the cool button but holding on to it sometimes can be annoying based on placement of the button. Nevertheless, the option to control the heat and airflow is a gamechanger. I bought this hairdryer because I wanted to make sure not to damage my hair and its great to be able to switch modes. Just keep in mind different modes may require you to take a longer time. The attachments are nice for styling. The hairdryer does give a more premium drying experience. It is a good investment.
