Fresh , Well Packaged, and Delicious
This is my 4th time to order walnuts from the Pecan Shop. As always, the nuts arrive well packaged, and are extremely fresh and flavorful. The nut pieces are large and there is no debris or shell in the bag contents. The nuts I have purchased stay fresh in the refrigerator for several months at a time.My order was delivered on time and always in excellent condition. I am very pleased with this source for walnuts and will continue to purchase my raw walnuts from the Pecan Shop.

Expensive but excellent
I have been ordering these repeatedly for several years and when I last went to do so and found they were not organic, I looked for a replacement. Nothing else looked even close — gluten-free,, organic, very fresh, halves, not pieces. So I waited a while and when I looked again they were labeled as organic. I received them very quickly and as always, they are the freshest walnuts I’ve ever had. They are expensive, though.

Quite a Price Increase
These nuts are real good, but the price has gone up quite a bit and I am now having to balance these out with some other lower cost options. It's a real shame, because I like them a lot and until recently had been purchasing them regularly. I eat 2 oz of these every day for health reasons and would prefer to stick with this brand, but the cost is becoming prohibitive. They do come fresh and well packaged, and they are not as dry as most other options. I would highly recommend these for their taste and quality, but only for occasional or "special" use like for holidays, etc., not for every day, due to the fact that they are pretty costly.

nevermind they fixed it (original headline: fourth bag in a row that's bad.)
EDIT2: The owner explained the quality control issue and it is due to causes outside of his direct control. While there was a hiccup in a few bags I'm pretty confident this product will go back to being stellar in the near future.EDIT: The owner actually responded to my email about the quality control issue. I will update this further when I have more information but it looks like he's actually interested in fixing the problem. Switching this review to 3 stars for now.Original: I purchased many, many of these bags (at least over 25) and in the last few months the quality has gone DRASTICALLY down. The bags of walnuts for some reason have powder all over them and it tastes horrible. For whatever reason some of them also are burnt (no, that's not a typo, and english is my first language, see the attached image.) How can unpasteurized walnuts be burnt?! wtf? this happened 3 times in a row, and so I decided I would order one more after waiting about a month and if it was also bad I would stop ordering. Well, I waited, and guess what? My bag of walnuts were bagged on 10/2023 (and arrived 2/24/2024). 6 months ago every bag I would order would be bagged the same month or one month earlier. Keep in mind this is bagged date not picked and de-shelled date. I tasted some and it turns out I didn't get as bad of a bag as my most previous one but this is still unacceptable, I could buy walnuts at my local ralphs and the quality would be on par with the most recent bag. It is NOT fresh, it is stale.

RANCID, DO NOT BUY!
This is a good brand. So many of these packaged walnuts are rancid or off flavored. These were actually decent, much better than what you would find in a grocery store. So I am happy with the purchase. I think the time of year you order walnuts is important. If you order before January you are likely to get last years crop, and avoid buying nuts in the summer months. Also buy from a small business that knows where their nuts are coming from.EDIT, 3-2-24This was advertised as "fresh" and had a lot of good reviews. Indeed I had purchased it 3 times before. But the latest bag I received was RANCID. As soon as I opened the bag I could smell it. I tasted a few. They were awful. This bag had to have been from last year although it was marked as current years crop ("packed in 10 -21"). All I can say is that these were definitely rancid. No returns allowed. So I have wasted $34.99 on a bag of rancid walnuts. I will never order from this company again.
