Appears to have fixed the hesitation in the transfer box on my F15 X5.

Smooth transmission after a TC oil change
X5 F15 transmission/4WD system was thumping at low revs under gentle acceleration. It took me 2 hours to get the fill plug out of the transfer case/TC, syringe the old 100K mile oil out, syringe this new oil in and finish the job. I've not reset the adaptions as my transmission is now smooth and as it was (so didn't need one of those expensive diagnostic tools). Hopefully it stays ok.

I put a different fluid in the transfer case and there was a low growl. As soon as I drained it and put the real fluid in, the growl was gone and the x3 runs like a champion. Don't go cheap. Use the right fluids.
