Our 2yr old high-end GE washer kept stopping in the middle of cycles and it seemed the lid either came unlocked or the sensor didn't recognize lid was down. Of course, warranty expired a month previously.I called a local certified repair shop that wanted $75 for a service call to diagnose and then parts and labor on top of that with a min 1 hour labor. So $150, even if it was a simple reset or anything.I watched some Youtube videos and several said GE washers are infamous for the lid sensor going bad and because my washer has all the bells and whistles that bypassing could damage the mother board. So the recommendation was to replace the Lid Lock Switch and the walkthrough looked easy.It was so easy and the cost of this part was less than $15.00. I can't believe how easy this was and washer has been working perfectly since I replaced.

Perfect Replacement for my GE Model GTW335ASN0WW Washer Lid Lock. As my research and youtube videos said, this is the part that most commonly is malfunctioning if your washer stops working. Ours stopped mid-cycle full of water. Would not spin or rinse. When I replaced this part, it worked fine again.

I installed this replacement lid lock on my GE washer, and while it physically fit, the performance was completely unreliable. Sometimes the machine would finish a cycle but wouldn’t unlock. Other times, I had to power-cycle the machine just to get the lid to open — and even that didn’t always work. In some cases, the washer wouldn't drain properly unless I manually restarted the spin cycle.It became clear that the new lock was not functioning consistently. At first I wasn’t sure if it was just the mechanical switch or something with the control board, but the fact that pausing the machine sometimes allowed the lid to open suggested this lock was part of the problem.Eventually, I had to take the top off the washer just to forcibly remove the lock and regain access. I replaced it with a different-brand part, and everything has worked flawlessly since.This part cost me a lot of time and frustration. I don’t recommend it.

Fit and works perfectly

So far so good! In a moment of a fit a rage I pulled up on the lid to get it to stop spinning immediately. ( I needed to get something delicate out), didn’t feel like waiting the minute or two when pushing the pause button. Of course I broke the switch and GE part is discontinued and new replacement is difficult to install. This part arrived in 3 days & It took me 5 minutes to install and my machine was back working . Thunk you Lord for prayers answered. I learned a valuable lesson. 1. Control your anger , 2. I really appreciate having a washing machine. 3 where there’s a will there’s a way. Only cost me $16.Don’t take the back and ltop off. You can replace just from taking white clip off and in plugging latch piece. I little awkward to reach underneath but doable. Good luck.
